About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live through great company, a lot of curiosity, and loads of wanderlust.

ABOUT ME

I'm pursuing life in every way I can. I'm definitely a quirky guy once you get to know me. I'm madly in love with the town where I went to college, I love to travel, but just as much for the sake of getting connected with a new place, not just sight seeing. I have a ton of random interests - collecting books, riding horses, hiking and then some, cliff jumping (not diving...), all kinds of food, friendly faces, bonsai trees, the list goes on.
I recently graduated from college, and knew that I wouldn't be able to handle a full-time job right away without experiencing more of the world first. So I am now diving in headfirst with travel plans and into volunteer work shortly after. I'm hoping to live in New Zealand for a year in the near future, and my sights are set on really living up my twenties in general. Life has tons of options and I'm ready for them.

PHILOSOPHY

"Compassion is sometimes the fatal capacity for feeling what it is like to live inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too."
- Frederick Buechner

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't feel connected to my world if I don't actively pursue what I love, which has a constantly shifting center. I participate more and more as I grow older. And in terms of couchsurfing, I went to school in a very secluded part of the country, with very few surfer interactions, but I am hoping to get involved in a couchsurfing community much more directly when I relocate closer to a city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Staying with so many diverse and amazing individuals has moved me to want to meet so many more. I have stayed at countless homes without the help of couch surfing, and hope to use this network so much more in the future, especially to host! I'm quickly discovering that the only way to get to know the world is to befriend anyone I cross paths with, which is exactly what this network allows me to do.

Interests

Reading thought-provokers, experiencing new cultures, camping, hiking, making friends in odd places, cliff jumping, anything outdoors, off-the-grid living, environmental sustainability, tennis, horseback riding, landscapes, panoramic viewpoints, learning new skills, learning about the history of the places I go, and more come along every day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have developed and completed a national awareness tour to save North Korean Refugees, driving across the country for a non-profit called LiNK: Liberty in North Korea, and in my time with the organization, I was fortunate enough to live with 21 people all under one small 4-bedroom roof, all working together.

Swimming in bioluminescent plankton in the middle of the night.

Snorkeling with manta rays.

Teach, Learn, Share

I honestly believe that learning happens most when outside of your comfort zone, as long as you're willing to stay outside of it long enough to really pay attention. I'm another guy trying to learn as much as I can with the time I have.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, England, France, Iceland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, United States
