About Me

Last update 04/09/18

Musician from Glasgow, on road in Ireland for a wee while. Spent long time a few years ago on the road in Europe selling my two solo albums, it was amazing. The new adventure is being in a proper band with our own studio on the verge of getting a van and booking an epic tour!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's literally the best website for meeting people who have the same way of looking at things as I do.
About two years ago me and my brother hosted our first guest... he fixed our toilet for free while drunk... needless to say this website is amazing.

Interests

I like talking to people who no longer fear seeming weird to stangers, I like finding out things that force me to totally re-organise/re-think my view of the world, and I like random encounters involving (but not exclusively limited to) alcohol.

I like to watch infotainment youtube videos on subjects like philosophy, physics, quantum mechanics, political philosophys and history, recently I've become pretty obsessed with the history of Spain from 1936-1939 and am in the midst of a binge to try and learn how to speak Spanish!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: recently I've started moving away from rock/metal and started getting into psychedelic, progressive, drone style music, also flamenco guitar and political folk, I still love Nirvana, Tool and bands like that, but I feel like I've started to expand my tastes.

Movies: lots of documentaries like The Union, Manufacturing Consent, The End of America, The Yes Men fix the world.
And others like The matrix, Inception, Libertarias, y tu mama tambien, Che 1+2, Accepted

Books: The authors I like the most are Iain Banks, David Wong, Noam Chomsky, Russell Brand and Charles Bukowski (guilty pleasure)
I also really loved the book called "Lanark: a life in four books" by Alistair Gray, I need to read more of his stuff because as soon as I was 4 pages in it became one of my favourite all time books.
Other random books that I think are cool include The picture of Dorian Grey, Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, Fight Club, The Catcher in the Rye and The Dirt (another guilty pleasure)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I made a 13 track solo album and hitched around Europe for three months. One of the rides I got took me from Frankfurt to Zagreb!
This year I've done another 13 track album... more stories coming soon.

Also I still think it's pretty amazing that I'm a full time musician, no other job, no dole!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to drop tune a guitar and play it real pretty!

I like people who think learning should be fun and direct, an open exchange of ideas instead of formal institutions that drains inspiration from the individual. Non-hierarchical education is the way forward me thinks.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can put on a gig in your home if you want, or just generally entertain you with tales from afar. :D
