Hi! My name is Michalis and I am 20 years old. I live for the last two years on a suburb north of Athens called Khalandrion. I study at the University of Piraeus, Dpt of Maritime Studies and at the same time I work in a maritime company headquartered in Piraeus . As you may notice, my free time is limited but I made a commitment to myself when i started working that my studies/work won't have a major impact in my social life. Within this context, the desire to get in touch with people of other cultures and listen to their stories about their way of living etc. stays strong! Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing for me is a tool to help other people, to facilitate their accommodation in Greece and to prove that Greek hospitality is rightly considered perfect! Moreover, with Couchsurfing, i have the opportunity to meet new people, explore through their perceptions new cultures and create memories with people all over the world!
The primary element of a city to me is it's residents. These are the ones that provide the colours and the warm atmosphere! So, to me, it could be a waste of time for a visitor to come here in Greece and only see the monuments and any other sightseeing. In order to reveal a city's culture you have to interact with its people.
