Overview
About Me
My name is Michel and I am 25 years old (28 now, wow, time goes fast!). I am a simple guy, who likes to have fun, laugh with people, discover new things and love to listen/learn what people have to say.
I had the chance to travel a lot in my life, as I found something in travelling I just didn't find anywhere else. I am now about to finish University, looking for a full-time job for the first time in my life. I live with my girlfriend(Lorie) and our whirlwind of a cat (Romeo) in a small appartment in Montreal, a city that I love.
Lorie and I will be travelling to Iceland from late August to mid-September. This should be a lot of fun as I've never really been in contact with my ancestors (I have Icelandic origins).
I believe that travelling is much more about meeting people than seeing stuff. Almost of my greatest travel experiences came with the fact that I was with the local people or fellow travellers, and almost never because of how beautiful a city was.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was hosted a few times, I went to a lot of events when I travelled alone, as it was a great way to meet people. For example, many cities have a weekly meeting so you can go grab a beer with the local couchsurfing community plus the people that are visiting. I suppose it's time to host now?
I really had only good experiences on couchsurfing. Every host was fantastic and I've met a lot of great people through the meetings. I have a special place in my heart for the Kiev spring camp in 2013. It was an event organized by couchsurfing legend Flohfish where the Kiev couchsurfing community gathered for a few days in the ukranian capital to meet people, visit the city and party a little bit. It truly was a great experience.
Interests
I'm a huge sports fan, would love to work in sports media one day. I like pretty much everything from ice hockey to football(american and canadian), baseball, basketball, tennis, cycling, soccer, olympics... I think you got the point.
Travelling became a big part of my life since 2010. I just love meeting people from everywhere in the world, sitting around a table and drink a good beer. I especially love ambers (or red? I'm not sure how to say that in english. In french, we say rousse).
I also love cinema (we'll get to it), history (I feel like I should know more), languages (always wanted to know more), music, foreign(or local?) food, cats (sorry) and nice people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies :
Guy Ritchie, Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantion, Yimou Zhang, Christopher Nolan. Among my favorite movies, there is : Good Morning Vietnam, In Bruges, Inglourious Basterds, City Lights, Papillon, Lock, Stock, ... I like mainstream stuff, but not too mainstream. I'm a bit tired of superhero flicks.
Music :
I like pretty much every kind of music expect for country.
Books :
I don't read much, though it's more laziness then not liking to read. I'm always open to suggestions.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's a hard one. I went to Laos and Brazil in 2011 et 2012. Both times I was mainly hosted by friend and family's relatives. Both experiences were amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmm... I can share a lot about the city of Montreal, about great Montreal sports moments, some of my travel tales, about the politics in Quebec, stories of my cat being crazy and many more things.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Definitely a great smile, attitude and postiveness. I always prefer to spend time with my hosts, whether it's by cooking together (although I'm not a very good cook), walking around the city, grabbing a beer, sharing some stories.
Countries I’ve Visited
