About Me

After teaching English in South Korea for two years, I took the opportunity to explore and backpack through Australia and South East Asia for a year. Now, inspired by my experiences in Korea, I'm back home studying elementary education.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love stories and the people who tell them. Stories are our identity and to me, that's what couchsurfing is all about - meeting people from all over the world and learning their stories.

Interests

I'm a reader, a writer, and a spoken word poetry junkie. My mom said I would grow out of my desire to climb trees and rock walls, but that still hasn't happened. Cooking and baking new things is one of my favorite things to do, given a kitchen! I will pepper anyone in the vicinity with questions about how education is done in your home country.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the privledge of teaching English to a group of 4 and 5 year old Korean preschoolers for 18 months. I met them as new students with no English, many of whom were scared because I was the first foreigner they'd ever met. I watched them grow and develop their English, and become proud of their new skill. I learned of their stories, their favorite colors, their biggest dreams and their darkest fears. Having the opportunity to be a part of these young children's lives was the most amazing thing I've ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn, though I'm slower in some things (like language learning) than others! I can help other practice their English skills, and trading hobbies is my favorite pastime.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm open-minded and down to talk about literally anything for hours. The catch? I'm horrible at starting conversations. Got any good topics?
