About Me

Hey there! My name's Michelle-reigning from a suburb right outside Chicago, I now live in Melbourne, Australia. I have spent the last 5 years balancing my time between traveling and studying, and have set up camp in a few different places including Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Sevilla, and now Australia!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel, and I think you get even more out of a city when you get a local point of view. I want to know where the best place to go in the morning for coffee and the best brunch. As much as I love traveling, I don't love touristy things. Traveling is all about the people you meet, and the experiences you share together, so what better way to learn and share than by staying with a local?

Interests

My number one interest is exploring. Whether through food, music, reading, or nature, I am curious to learn more about this crazy world we live in!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, Hozier, MisterWives, anything by Nicholas Hooper or part of any movie score
Movies: I'm terrible at watching movies, any movie that everyone else has seen, I haven't. So I apologize ahead of time for that, but I did recently see The Theory of Everything and quite enjoyed that. It's a work in progress
Books: Anything by Julio Cortázar, Sapiens: A History of Humankind, Alice Hoffman books, Philipa Gregory books, Harry Potter, The Book Thief, and countless others I can't think of right now. If you have any suggestions-let me know! I'm always looking for a new book!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first solo trip was in Peru a little over 2 years ago, and while there I got to watch the sun rise through the fog over Machu Pichu with a herd (pack?) of llamas.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learn about your culture and what your story is, and share lots of my own stories, yummy food, and hopefully some laughs.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of stories and hopefully some food! I've picked up a few recipes along the way, and more stories than I can even remember. I also have a pretty advanced level of Spanish, if you want to practice I'm always happy to do so!
