About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn new things from other places that I can adopt into my own lifestyle. I want to teach my friends and family something new they will enjoy too.

I want to learn new customs, crafts, methods of doing things, see cool places, meet cool people and try new food!

ABOUT ME

I am a very friendly easy-going person who loves meeting new people, seeing and trying new things. I like to be active, but I also like to sit back and relax, too. There is a time for everything, and take time to enjoy everything.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't knock it 'till you try it!

Do something that scares you, or brings you out of your comfort zone. That is how you really grow as a person, and get the best stories to share!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a way to get a real feel for a place you are staying: culture, vibe, you name it. It is also how you meet amazing people all over the world and create lasting friendships with like-minded people.

I believe it takes a certain type of person to really participate in couchsurfing. In general, you only find good people brave and open enough to open their homes to complete strangers, and these are the kinds of people I like to meet.

Interests

Too many.

Science: particularly genetics, but everything is interesting in its own way.

Plants- if you have a botanic gardens in your city, I want to see it! If you have some cool exotic house plants, I want to see them too. If you are having plant trouble, I would like to help!

Travelling (obviously)

Sports- particularly volleyball and scuba diving/swimming. But I also enjoy hikes and walks in beautiful or interesting places!

Food: learning to cook new things, trying local specialties. Tea is another favourite of mine!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- Movie soundtracks are my favourite, but I like lounge music and alternative and light rock too. Oh and maybe some good salsa...

Movies and books: anything Fantasy or Sci-Fi (Firefly, Battlestar, Dune, Isaac Asimov, Kevin J. Anderson, Harry Potter, Kushiel's Dart, Wheel of Time, Pern, Interstellar, Hyperion, Game of Thrones, and so much more). I'm always open to new suggestions too!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been able to enjoy the generous hospitality of complete strangers all over the world, whether through CS or random circumstances.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I can teach:

Basic Genetics: how it works, what a GMO actually is. Plants: caring for all kinds of houseplants (and cloning them too) Origami: regular and 3D. Music: how to read notes and basic piano. Crafts: hemp weaving and making friendship bracelets

What I want to learn:

Customs, traditions and legends of different cultures, how to cook local food (or just a favourite recipe of yours), new musical instruments, maybe how to make money from a travel blog.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, a chill evening over a glass of wine or beer, a chance to show off how cool their city is and hopefully a future contact for their next trip!
