About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Challenge myself to learn as much as I can from every place I go and meet amazing people all along the way.
ABOUT ME
With the exception of a few extended trips abroad, I have lived in the good ole peach state my whole life. Well, until now that I live in Tegucigalpa. I am working with a non-profit organization called Real LEDGE Honduras and we are basically dedicated to teaching entrepreneurship through experiential education - how to recognize an opportunity and take advantage of it. Beyond that, we want to teach students that they can create their own jobs and offer jobs to others, sometimes even doing something their passionate about.
After my time in Honduras, I plan to hit the road again. I fell in love with Latin America a few years ago and consider it home, but I'm thinking it's time to head east. There's a good chunk of uncharted territory for me that way. We'll see what the future brings!
PHILOSOPHY
Maintain an open heart and mind, count your blessings, and do the things that make you excited about waking each day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now, I am not in a place to offer up a couch or guest bed. I'm sorry! When I get home, it's open to any and all respectable, curious folks.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
While traveling, I've found couchsurfing to be an incredible resource. There have been times I haven't needed a place to rest my head but instead contacted locals about grabbing a beer or coffee. I've made a couple lifelong friends that way and look forward to seeing them again in the near future. I've also stayed a few nights with people in different cities in Latin America. Maybe I'm just spoiled, but every experience has been uniquely fantastic.
Interests
Spending mornings in the mountains is one of my favorites. Matter of fact, I love the mountains no matter what time of day it is. I treasure special moments when people share a little bit of their world with you - new culture, exotic food and their families. I enjoy practicing yoga but haven't been making enough time for it lately!
I have become a coffee addict here in Honduras. A younger me would've been disappointed, but I am just not ashamed. The coffee here is amazing! I'm a vegetarian and love the kitchen. I think of meals as a time to gather and enjoy the people around of you, and this fast-food, restaurant franchise era literally crushes my soul.
I have a pile of books I hope to read and don't know how I'll ever get through... somehow the pile keeps growing. I love all of the planet's furry (and not so furry) friends. I'm an amateur photographer, and I like to dance (or try).
