Hi - my name is Michelle! I love seeing new things and adventuring just as much as I like showing others my favorite hidden gems. I grew up in NJ just a short 30 minutes from NYC, and I now spend most of my time in the city. I work as a marketer at a nonprofit that establishes / grows music education programs across US schools; also a part time grad student wrapping up my last few courses.

As of this moment (August 2019): I have returned to NYC from a backpacking trip in Southeast Asia and am resettling into my home life. I hope to have my life unpacked and couch ready in the next few weeks for Surfers to crash!

I'm ALWAYS smiling when I'm hiking in the woods, exploring new city streets, gardening (indoors and outdoors when it's warm enough), cooking, and painting. I love creating -- interested in making something together?

In terms of travel, I've explored a bit of the US, Europe, and Asia. I'll try it all: I've stayed in Paris for 2 months -- and also on an organic farm in Chiang Mai for 2 weeks; enjoyed the efficiency of clean Asian public transportation systems -- and hitch-hiked through the Scottish Highlands; grown closer to friends through travel -- and experienced a lot of self-reflection with solo adventures. I believe in connecting with others. Love when two seemingly different people recognize the similarities in each other - we're all just human.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favorite experiences have been out of generosity - when I'm able to offer it and when others extend it. I'm here to share my advice, my enthusiasm, and my home with any Surfers. I can only hope for the same hospitality when I'm visiting your city - I'd love the chance to meet others and spark new friendships!
