About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living it up in my hometown - Adelaide, South Australia

I acknowledge the traditional lands of the Kaurna People upon whose country I reside.

ABOUT ME

Australia | family | friends | food | fitness | travel | lawyer | languages | hubby and dogs.

This pretty much sums me up.

I've done a great deal of travel throughout Australia, South East Asia, the Pacific, Europe and South America. In the past I've been a 'bare bones of my arse' backpacker. I've stayed in hostel accommodation, surfed a few couches (as well as hosting others), and camped. I've also glam-packed and gone five star. I always found it was the hostelling / Airbnb'ing or couchsurfing - experiences that afforded me the opportunities to meet new people, experience full cultural immersion and live as the locals do . I think this is why I really love the couchsurfing concept.

PHILOSOPHY

My two favourite quotes:

"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.” - Taken from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

"To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.”
- E. E. Cummings

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Depending on availability of bed space, happy to host or be hosted

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have couchsurfed through France, Austria, Croatia and Italy. Have Airbnb'd in Colombia, Ecuador, USA, Portugal, Germany, England, Australia. I've also hosted in my own home.

My hosts were particularly helpful in providing insight into their cultures, places of interest and good food. They were also able to direct us to the more local dives. 99% of my experiences have been incredible and eye opening. As for the 1% - I might say be wary of those not completely honest when making arrangements.

Interests

Travel; spending time with husband, dogs, family and friends; good music; great conversation (especially over good food, lots of cheese and Adelaide wines); human rights with a particular interest in the plight of refugees and Indigenous Peoples; film; singing, cycling, running, swimming, laughing myself silly, loving and being loved.
