Overview
About Me
Greetings! I’m a curious, independent and friendly person who enjoys meaningful conversation, taking photos when there’s captivating light, getting coffee/tea at a quaint shop and petting cats or dogs.
I am a Chinese American adoptee who grew up in Tennessee, USA. The best qualities of the South in my opinion are the cuisine and music. Some of my cherished memories when living there were eating greasy breakfast food at old-fashioned diners and attending live bluegrass music gatherings.
I now live and work in Brooklyn, NY as a freelance filmmaker and photographer. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in photojournalism and also studied abroad at the Danish School of Media and Journalism. I have a special interest in telling stories that explore the intersections of race, culture and identity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My job gives me the opportunity to meet new people and learn about how they see life and the world from a different perspective. I feel like I can do the same thing with Couchsurfing. Meeting new people, especially in a new country, is always fun for me. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
My music preference ranges from indie rock to hyper pop to old school country. I like music to dance to, to commute to and to feel like the main character of a movie or tv show lol. I’m always taking new music recommendations!
I’m a huge fan of coming-of-age movies and dark comedy TV shows. My all time favorite TV show is Bojack Horseman and some of my favorite films are Moonlight by Berry Jenkins and Minari by Lee Isaac Chung. I also enjoy classic anime shows like Attack on Titan and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.
I’m not the biggest reader, but I’m currently reading Stay True by Hua Hsu. I also recently read Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner and really enjoyed it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Somehow making a career as a freelance filmmaker in NYC work for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
