About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Michelle, and I am retired and live here in San Miguel de Allende, Central Mexico. I built a small hotel here, and as part of the Couchsurfing community, I offer free stays to fellow travelers. I love meeting people from around the world and sharing stories.

San Miguel is a fantastic place to visit. It's largely English-speaking because many residents have moved here from around the world to work remotely or retire.

San Miguel de Allende is located in the crown jewel of Mexico's colonial heritage, our hotel offers the perfect balance of service, amenities, and sophistication. For more information about our location, please search for "Casa Grande San Miguel Luxury Vacation Rentals" on Google. We're about a 15-minute walk from the Jardin and the Parroquia.

I've been here since 2014 and know the city well. I pride myself on being a great concierge and host. You can reach me on WhatsApp at +52-415-566-2457.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have met the most interesting people and maintained relationships both hosting and surfing on this site. Hosts make the best concierges!!!

Interests

Since moving here, I started a Facebook group called San Miguel Newcomers Meet and Greet to help people who have moved here or are considering a move. It’s a great place to meet new friends and learn about the city and all it has to offer. It is held here on our rooftop overlooking beautiful San Miguel. You can find us on Facebook.

By the way, during the off-season the Newcomers Clubs takes a break (May - August), and resume our meetings in September of each year.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a profound passion for food and fine wine, relishing the opportunity to explore diverse cuisines and vintages. In my free time, I love immersing myself in a gripping thriller novel or binge-watching series on Netflix.

At the moment, I'm learning salsa, a fun and exhilarating new hobby. I'm also an avid music enthusiast, with a special fondness for jazz and Latin tunes, though I appreciate nearly every genre—except rap, which just doesn’t resonate with me.

San Miguel boasts a vibrant music scene, with something new happening every night and regular concerts featuring famous singers and bands.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two amazing things I have done are raising two beautiful girls who have grown into wonderful mothers. Both incredibly smart and creative, Christine now lives and works in British Columbia, and Apryl in Newfoundland.

Another significant accomplishment has been building my boutique hotel in Mexico. Despite the challenges, the project is now completed and operating successfully. My children and their families visit often, as they both love Mexico and plan to retire here one day.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I bring a wealth of funny stories from my travels and the incredible people I've met along the way. My experiences range from owning my own newspaper and several online businesses to building a boutique hotel in Mexico, providing plenty to share.

I love to cook and always prepare meals for my hosts. From what I've been told, you'll find me to be a very generous and interesting guest :) :).
