About Me
I'm not religious at all, but reading about Buddhism taught me a lot of simple but life-changing things. For one it helped me to see life as a process, as something where nothing's fixed and everything's fading. So I'm a process too, an unfinished human being trying to make the most of my precious life, trying to be a gentle and kind person who helps others and doesn't take himself too seriously.
I admire people who've found their peaceful place in life, who have put in work to aquire skills, who have passions and creativity and wisdom and knowledge about anything. More so I admire those who are good-hearted and willing to help others. So in that respect couchsurfers in general are kind of great to me. :)
From an early age I loved reading and writing stories, so after studying politics I started a career as a journalist at a local newspaper, now I work as an editor at a weekly magazine in Hamburg. I still think I'm not quite where I need to be. I dream of writing a book (as nearly every journalist does).
I would say I'm calm and generally positive. I'm a good listener and enjoy harmony and the presence of friendly people. Still I sometimes need a little time off of everybody to gather my thoughts.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Truth be told: I registered at couchsurfing 6 years ago. I loved the idea when I heard of it. But then I never did it actually. Got lost in a struggle for finding the right work for me. I never really travelled for the last six years and I regret it. I often met couchsurfers who reminded me of this community. I never followed up. But it's not too late: I hope I can finally do this, meet and host people in my home city of Hamburg. And abroad. It's a great thing.
Interests
I love watching basketball, it's such an exciting sport. I especially love the San Antonio Spurs, the way the play. The beautiful game, the team first spirit, the humble attitude. It can be like poetry in motion.
More stuff that I love and try to spend time doing: Digging deeper into the buddhist way of life and meditation. Exploring books, music and podcasts. Watching movies and binge-watching TV series. Getting out of the city, visiting nature, the sea.
I'm also into tasty and healthy food as well as totally unhealthy and sweet stuff and recently I started cooking and baking more. I'm pretty proud of my cheesecake, I gotta say. :) After a couple of failed attempts I started to play the piano again. I suck but I still love it.

Music, Movies, and Books
I care about good music and movies although I'm not that up to date anymore.
I went to five Bruce Springsteen concerts and I loved everyone of them. Besides Bruce my musical taste is all over the place, I like Wallis Bird, Johnny Cash, Pink, Frank Sinatra, The Roots, Udo Lindenberg, Frank Turner, Angus & Julia Stone.
I love movies even if I can't find time to watch a lot lately. My favourite ones: Almost Famous. Where the Wild Things Are. Shawshank Redemption.
I love these awesome US TV series. The ones that blew me away: Six Feet Under. Friday Night Lights. West Wing. Recently Game of Thrones has just been mad fun.
I lately read the stuff of David Vann. It's dark and disturbing but I like the way he writes. I also love The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If my busy job let's me I'm glad to meet you, show you the places I know, some bars and spots I like. Unfortunately I live in tiny, tiny crammed apartment right now so I can't really offer you a spot to stay. But that will change soon, hopefully. However till then you can meet me for coffee or a glass of whine or take a walk with me. I'm happy to provide the little I know. I really do love my city and the spirit of it. And I'm looking forward to hosting in the near future!
