I first got involved with CS living in Taiwan from 2008-2012. Since then have been in Portland, Oregon. Recently took a job in Bethpage, NY and am looking for a place to stay while I find a place of my own.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think CS is a fantastic organization. Not only can you host and surf, but in Taipei at least the local chapter is a great group of folks to hang with. I hope the scene in NY is as lively.

Interests

Martial arts, especially the Chinese 'internal' styles and Russian Systema.

Contact improvisation (dance).

Music, esp. 'drone' music such as Indian classical, and cowboy songs.

Language learning and teaching using TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in a Zen monastery for a summer. It rearranged my molecular structure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach Chinese using a unique instructional method (TPRS, or Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). I have also taught martial arts in a variety of contexts. My favorite thing to do is to drink whiskey with good friends and sing country songs.
