About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to find my grandmother's relatives (or more probably their sons/daughters :) emigrated to Midi-Pyrénées in the 30's

ABOUT ME

Im usually calm, easygoing and patient; I get very strict just when I feel like people play on me, or I feel I have my back to the wall.
I don't smoke, but I am a lover of good wine and fresh beer, especially if shared with a good company.
I can be defined as a reserved person, but when I get close to someone I let all my crazy personality out! Beware :)
I adore Venice, and would like to give the possibility to visit it to anyone!

PHILOSOPHY

there's always gonna be something new, even if you think you've seen it all. discovering is up just to us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate offering my couch and surfing someone else's couch when I have some free time! Meeting new people can boost your life in unimaginable ways!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just joined CS,so I dont have any proper CS experience to tell. Anyway, I hosted a great girl in my flat in Riga, last year. I had never met her in person before, but we'd been knowing each other for some months thanks to a common passion. She was a couchsurfer and so I thought "Why not?". :) [May 2010]
----------
After my 1st CS experience as a guest, I can say CS is LEGEN-(wait for it!)-DARY! So, Im gonna try to give my best with it more and more, both as a host and as a guest! [November 2010]
----------
Im sorry to say that, but Im starting to hate CS :) I thought it was a way to travel with a deeper insight around the world, but now I see it is doing everything in order to prevent me from discovering new places: using CS I found many good friends and so all I want now is going back to visit them... there's almost no more time for new places! :P [August 2011]
--------------------------------------
I always think CS is nice place to get new experiences with interesting and adventurous people, but also it can be wise "to handle with care". [February 2012]

Interests

I have different interests, and keep on changing them, adding new ones to my personality. In general I can say I love traveling and would like to be able to speak any language.
I am fascinated by foreign cultures and basically think all people are good.
I love both arts (literature, music, painting, cinema, etc) and sports (especially tennis and rugby, although I don't practice the latter eheh).
Im fond of Latvia, Occitania, Corsica and Andalusia.
Oh, and I love tree climbing!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've tried to follow the ATP tour around Europe (tennis) for a couple of months but then soon gave up: man, that's expensive! :P
Other amazing experience: my sister and I singing 'Se Canto' at the top of our lungs on the Mount Latemar slopes; travelling 600 km (well, 1200 if you consider back and forth) in a day just to eat a pasta with two friends.
I've reached the Koruldi lakes in the Caucasus!
Apart from this, I don't really think I have done anything "amazing". I just travelled as much as I could, but still not really much. I would like to visit many many more countries...

Teach, Learn, Share

Im becoming an "expert" of Latvian culture.
I try to know all I can about rugby.
I like history of European countries.
I know much about Greek mythology (I especially studied the myth of Dionysos); as I studied Ancient Greek at school, I was and am still charmed by the Greek roots of my culture.
I can cook pasta and teach you how to make tiramisu, and other italian food (not too complicated, though, Im not such a chef as my mother and grandmother).

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
