I caught the travel bug when I stepped out of my comfort zone and studied abroad in Jordan during college. Ever since then, I have always wanted to live abroad. But preparing to become a doctor never gave me the time to travel. My parents are from Japan but I was born and raised in the USA and I have always wanted to see where they grew up. I got accepted to a medical school in Australia and now I finally saved up enough money and have time to travel!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am planning to go on a solo trip around Asia before starting medical school in Australia for the 2017 year! I love traveling and learning about other cultures - I would love to make friends all over the world!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love indie, EDM, and rock music. I used to be a fan of hard rock but I have mellowed out to more alternative music lately :) The past few years, I have been a big EDM fan but I do not listen to that so much anymore. My favorite movies are indie films that make me really feel and think about the world. I love documentaries too

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I studied abroad in Jordan, I volunteered at a few Pakistani refugee camps - it was an amazing experience and it was really lovely interacting with the refugees even though we could not communicate but a simple smile was all that really mattered :) On that note, I also floated in the Dead Sea and watched the sunset at Wadi Rum. I will never forget those moments

What I Can Share with Hosts

I worked as a teacher and tutor so I can teach you both English and basic Japanese! At the end of the day what makes me the most happy is having a good conversation about what gives people joy and everyone's purpose in life - I think everyone has one!
