I am a Portuguese 22-year-old dude living in Utrecht, Netherlands, where I am studying for a semester. I love travelling, music, learning new things and spending time with cool people. I hope I get to do all of this :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it can be an amazing way to genuinely meet different cultures. Getting rid of the distance between the traveller and the host, it's a good opportunity to get to know each other and each other's stories.

I love 'my' city, 'my' country, my food and I love the chance to show other people the reasons why! At the same time, I am very eager to learn about all that is different from what I am accustomed to.

Interests

I love a good story. With time I've collected a few, which I'll be more than happy to trade! Understanding the story of places and people is very enriching.

I'm very interested in science. It's our attempt at figuring out the story behind stuff in general and talking about it is a big part of it!

I love music: playing, listening, trying and failing to create it, actually succeeding and then forgetting about it, whatever. It's great to meet fellow music lovers.

I've been trying to learn more languages, which is yet another reason to travel and meet more people. Knowing more languages one can grasp more stories!

Aside from all that, I love eating/trying to cook good food. Not because of sheer gluttony, of course: only because it can be such a fulfilling cultural experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many sorts of music, depending on my mood and on what I want to do! I can say something similar about movies and books. I may like many different kinds of it because of many different reasons. So it is hard to just number a couple of my favorite music, movies or books :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple years ago I went on my first hitchhiking trip with some friends, to Sevilla. One night we were wondering what we were going to do the next day. We woke up the next day, packed and 4 rides later we arrived euphorically in Sevilla!

So in the following Summer we ganged up and hitchhiked mostly in Slovenia, Croatia and a bit in Poland. It was my biggest and most amazing trip so far. I hope to keep on beating this record!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to understand how things work and I'm always eager to learn more from the people I meet: their history/stories, the history of the places and traditions and so on! I also take pleasure in trying to explain stuff that I have understood so far: sharing knowledge is very rewarding!
