About Me

I come from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I lived all my life, up to now. There, I studied Systems Engineering and I've been working in a couple of companies since my first years of college.

I've always loved to know new places, starting with my home country, Argentina, where I've traveled to many different and incredible cities, from the middle-east, Colón and San José, Entre Ríos, to the south, San Martín de los Andes and Villa la Angostura, Neuquén, and Las Grutas and Bariloche, Río Negro, and then back to the center of the country, many cities in Córdoba, and middle-west side in Mendoza, San Rafael and Malargüe, Mendoza.

I also had the chance to know a couples of cities in California while travelling for work. Beautiful places like San Francisco, Santa Cruz and San Diego.

Now, I'm currently living in Nice, France, studying here and getting to know as much as possible from the 'Old World'. I've visited different places of Spain and France and plan to go even further!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined CS after going to live in Nice to meet up with people from different countries. With CS, I had the chance to know new people from many different places and even spend New Year's eve together while eating raisins at Puerta del Sol in Madrid!

After these first experiences, I only want to continue meeting new places and people to show me around. I'm really interested in learning the secrets of the places I go to and I know that the best way to do so is sharing the experiences with a local.

Interests

I like to know different cultures and especially, I have to say it, their food. I'm not a real cook, but as an amateur I love trying out new things, whether they are sushi, chow fan or carbonara and sfogliatellas! And by trying things out it also means, eating them!

I love to play music and I used to play the guitar in a couple of bands, but nowadays I usually get my mandolin with me when traveling around. Percussion is also something I always enjoyed and tried, a bit of djembe and cajón flamenco are always fun to make a base during a jam!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. I've listened a lot to different bands, from Bad Religion, The Offspring and the Argentinian Attaque 77 and Cadena Perpetua to Pink Floyd and The Beatles, but I'm open to any kind of music.

At home, there is always some special tangos during those rainy days. Nothing better than a little bit of Goyeneche or Cacho Castaña, while drinking some mates and eating pastries, or traditional Argentine 'pastelitos' full of quince!

And there is always place for some Argentinian folklore. I especially enjoy some of Mercedes Sosa's versions of María Elena Walsh's songs. 'Como pájaros en el aire' by Peteco and 'Samba y Acuarela', Raly Barrionuevo.

I've always been the worst with movies, but I can say that Big Fish might be the film that has touched me the most after the old time classic American Beauty, which might the be what really made me be who I am today.

I love to read and even though these last times I've spent lots of times reading things from Computer Science, I still try to make myself a little of time to read something else.

Hermann Hesse is one of my old time favourite writers. I've recently finished The Glass Bead Game, but I'm still amazed by Steppenwolf and Narcissus & Goldmund.

Chuck Palahniuk has also been added to this list in the last couple of years. The incredible Invisible Monsters and Fight Club have made me change my mind completely about what a real love story is like! And Rant, well, it's coming back.

After coming to Nice, I had to read a couple of times Rayuela by Julio Cortázar and I strongly recommend it to everyone. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Don't know if amazing but I'm really proud of, after three days of hiking up a mountain reaching the peak of the mount Champaquí in Córdoba, Argentina, with a total elevation of 2790m. Those were three really awesome days of trekking and sharing with friends and people that soon became friends during the hiking!

In a trip with some friends to the south of Argentina, we did all the way up from San Martín de los Andes to Villa La Angostura though the Seven Lakes' route. More than a hundred kilometres of biking, seeing spectacular landscapes each day and camping in different lakes. A trip that is worth it! Especially when arriving to the beautiful Villa La Angostura and taking a refreshing bath in its lake!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching and even if don't know much I can share my experiences as well as some specially bitter Argentinian 'mates', or a really strong tea, as I tell most of the people.

I can teach and share a bit of some classic recipes from where I come from: empanadas, pastelitos and dulce de leche, as well as others from different places.

I'd really love to learn other cultures, especially interested in languages and recipes, not to mention a little bit of music!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my ears and maybe some anecdotes and stories from my homeland.

I can do my best to prepare something to eat or help while you are doing it!

And if I have no choice I can even try to harmonize the night with a bit of music and everything possible to have a great time!
