ABOUT ME

Well, I am a graduate student pursuing Ph.D. in Physics here in Cornell University in Ithaca, upstate NY. I am crazy about traveling.. In India, I have traveled to many places in Himalayas, in south India, and some places in eastern India... Apart from India, I have traveled to some parts of Europe, including Ireland, France, Netherlands, Belgium etc..
But I don't like the standard way many people travel.. I like to see the places for what they are.. not rushing them by, but understanding the nature (climate, landscape and weather ) along with the people living there.. When I travel,I make it a point to talk to as many people there as I can, because that's what I think makes our travel meaningful...
I think, the purpose of our traveling would be served, if at the end of day, we see places all over the world, we make friends all over the world, understand their cultures, traditions, their way of living....

PHILOSOPHY

Knowing more and more about the place you reside, that's the earth, is the biggest enriching experience and probably never-ending beautiful journey...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any couchsurfing experience till now...Except that I attended some CS meeetings - first, a monthly CS meeting in Lille (France)on 4th June 2008, and another, an informal CS meeting at a pub in later in the same month. I also attended a CS quiz on general geography and traveling and I really enjoyed it !
I have attended an informal CS gathering in Mumbai too.. Now that I would be here in US for some time at least, I would like to participate more here...

Hope to couchsurf soon to some place new, and enjoy the company of locals there...

Interests

Professionally, I am pursuing Ph.D in Physics, so of course, that's one of my central interests..

I like music (many genres - Indian classical, pop, rock, metal etc.), reading books, traveling to many places... I love all sorts of adventure sports (though I haven't done many :P) - I love mountaineering - I have trekked in quite a few places in east and north Himalayas, I love biking... I have just had one experience of Sky-diving and it was AWESOME !!! waiting eagerly to do it again....
Recently have taken up nature photography, and am really hooked on to it.. Although I am in learning stages, hoping to progress fast.. lets see..

Movies : I watch some Hindi as well as English movies... In English, I loved Matrix trilogy, LOTR trilogy, Shawshank Redemption, Remember the Titans, Pursuit of happyness, A walk to remember, Before sunrise,Before Sunset, requiem for a dream.. the .list is too long..
