About Me
How are you supposed to write these things? It's so much easier to talk to someone over coffee (or beer) and surely everyone on couchsurfing loves to travel?!
But as I should say something, I work full time in London and travel as much as I possibly can. Sometimes alone, sometimes with my partner, sometimes with my brothers - it all depends on what kind of experience I am after. Back in 2011, which feels like a long long time ago, I couchsurfed and met people from couchsurfing in Greece, Finland, Turkey, Iran & Uzbekistan. This was my last long trip and these were some of the best travel experiences from all my travels and it's all thanks to couchsurfing.
More recently my travels have been much shorter (long weekends, a week, two weeks and a whole month in Peru / Bolivia in April 2017!). With full time work and the limits of it, my style of travel has changed over the years. Time seems to be more important now than saving a few coins, but I fully intend to take a year out of work and travel the world again on a shoestring budget.
Finally, I'm 30 (still very young at heart) and half British / half Finnish (there's an excellent Nordic Bakery in London).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Its simple. When I can't travel because I need to work, I would love to spend the evenings and weekends in London (and nearby) with people that also enjoy travelling. A bit like kicking back on a beach with a beer in one hand, but instead of the beach, replace it with a London bar or coffee shop!
Unfortunately I cannot host anyone at the moment. Why?.... Have you seen the size of one bedroom flats in London. They are like studios with a dividing wall. It's not that I don't want to host, it's just that there would be no privacy at all!!!! If my partner is away it is a possibility but I would need to consider it very carefully.
As I work just behind the London Eye in Central London, I am always up for meeting up for lunchtime coffees, or after work beers. I will give you the best transport advice possible (its my field of expertise) and will also try to give suggestions on where to visit in London / England. Feel free to just message me with a question and I will certainly respond.
Drop me a message - I won't bite! p.s. I'm a bit shy in the real world - it comes from being Finnish. We are rather isolated country in so many ways.
Interests
I actually really like to plan trips, not just for me but for others too. Helping someone book a good priced flight or giving them travel tips gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction. But when I can, I travel. It's always independently and when possible it's by train.
For the past few years I have been going skiing in each February. I've tried out Italy, France, Austria and Andorra. I've been going with my much younger brother as everyone I know seems to be petrified of putting on skies - so if there is someone out there that would like to join me for a week of skiing then please get in touch. I am flexible on dates and location.
What else do I do?.... Cycling on my fold up Brompton (they're are surprising stable), Rollerblading as part of the London Wednesday or Friday night skate and general fitness (running, gym classes).
There is however one thing that I am not interested in, and that is museums. I've tried and tried but I just cannot do it. Basically I am much more of an outdoors person than an indoors person.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't have a TV and I am pretty busy with my second degree to have any time to read a book. But right now I am listening to "I Dare You by The XX" - next on the play list is "Dynabeat by Jain".
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Kissed a Giraffe.
Their tongues are surprisingly dry!
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you're travelling alone, it's sometimes nice to meet others.... coffee may be?
Otherwise I will give transport advice and travel suggestions for London, England and Europe, either face-to-face over a coffee or via a message.
