How is it going! I'm Mika, 21 years young and I currently live in Maastricht, The Netherlands, where I study International Business. I've travelled a fair bit after finishing highschool 2 years ago, worked and lived in New Zealand, and before returning home I visited North America and visited a bunch of friends! I love meeting new people and share stories about how beautiful and crazy this big world is. Before starting my studies in September 2019 I finished my pre-uni life with a month long interrail trip through Scandinavia and Northern Europe. Unfortunately the traveling has gotten a little less since I'm a full time student now, but the next journey is never far away.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just started experiencing this beautiful way of travelling. I'm on Couch Surfing, because I don't just want to see places, but meet people, listen to their stories, enjoy culture first hand and get a different perspective. As I haven't started a career and saving up money yet, of course my budget plays an important role when it comes to my travels. Therefore Couch Surfing offers the perfect way of combining my needs and my expectations of how to travel. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time hosting, I think my hometown is just too small, there is hardly anyone passing through. If you're in the area tho, hit me up!

Interests

I really like playing board/card games, a Monopoly game night is a classic. I also love Quiz games, but be warned, I sometimes am competitive! I'm into really any kind of sports and I like to be active myself, I play football/soccer since I'm 4 years old and a ball on my feet will always make me happy. In New Zealand I got to love the mountains and the Ocean, since then I've been hiking everything with a good view and my wetsuit is always in my backpack.

I like too many types of music, the decade doesn't matter, I like the 70s (ABBA), the 80s, the 90s, I like them all lol!
Unfortunately I haven't read in a while, the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' trilogy was the last thing I've read.
I love Game of Thrones (obviously)
I'm a fan of good old classic movies (The Godfather, Goodfellas, The Untouchables and more)
Just started watching Breaking Bad.
I love Peaky Blinders!
Rick and Morty is the best Comedy Show (I look forward to it's comeback!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked the 75km (47 miles) Queen Charlotte Track in New Zealand in 2 and a half days. (Needed a Burger and a Milkshake to recover)
