ABOUT ME
Kia ora, សួស្ដី, 안녕하세요, olá, and apa kabar?
E ai, beleza? Eu sou neozelandesa e moro no Brasil a dois anos com meu namorado :)
Mikayla here. I'm a 28 year old New Zealander. I have done a bit of everything over the past few years but am currently residing in and around Santa Catarina, Brasil after being kidnapped by a very nice brasileiro.
In the future I want to work for Doctors Without Borders, and sail around the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can host, not always a bed, but usually at least dinner or a fun activity. When I am working as a dive instructor I might be quite busy so you should a) come diving ;) or b) catch up with me for lunch or dinner because I love to eat!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted 6 or 7 different groups of couch surfers (though never couch surfed myself) and it was awesome every time. I feel so lucky to have met such cool people and am still in touch with several people I've hosted. Sorry I cannot provide any of the references I had as they are on an old profile.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Cat Empire - if you like them then you you are AWESOME! I love music, I guess sorta folky stuff, ska, funk, indie-alternative-whatever-it's-called....Ive been traveling a lot so I'm not up-to-date with the latest stuff so please share with me! I am learning to play guitar, ukelele and harmonica so if you want to we can jam :)
My favourite movie is The Royal Tenennbaums so I guess I like quite quirky films. But I prefer to watch good documentaries (have you seen any by John Pilger?) but then I tend to get riled up. I also try to watch online lectures.
Reading is choice!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I broke my foot in a tuk-tuk crash in the desert in Rajasthan, India. Then had to trek back across the country alone, with my pack and a zimmer frame.
Saw a school of 40 big Bumphead Parrot Fish coming over a big sand mound eating and shitting, like buffalo crossing grass fields. And a Juvenile Angelfish :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach diving (PADI Instructor), surfing, bits and pieces of some different languages, New Zealand English (a.k.a. mumbling), and how to have mojo.
I am learning Portuguese :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
surfing lessons, asian food
