About Me

I am currently living in America in a very remote area in a small little house therefore I cannot accept guests, sorry!

I'm a graduate of Maynooth University which is in the beautiful small town of Maynooth in Ireland. It is situated only 30 minutes drive from Dublin. Maynooth is home to a large old castle where the country was once governed from by a family called the Fitzgeralds. I was lucky to grow up in Maynooth and also attend University here as it has one of the oldest campus' in Ireland. The old campus is really beautiful and peaceful with many nice gardens and walkways. There is a lot of history here and many many nice restaurants. They say Maynooth is the 'gastronomical' capital of Ireland.
I love music and listen to many many different artists and genres. I am always willing to listen to new things! I recently started a new project on Instagram called theactivelisteningclub which is an album club where I get friends and different musicians to suggest an album of the week and get people to openly discuss what they think of it in the comments. Like an online book club, only for music! It is only beginning but I hope it will continue to grow and help people find new music to listen to.
I also play the piano and the alto saxophone. Most of my friends are also musicians and I am constantly surrounded by it! It is awesome!
I love talking to new people and I am very interested in the different lives people lead.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to get the opportunity to meet local people while travelling and therefore get to chance to experience cities as locals do. I also want to meet new people!

Interests

I am hugely interested in music and how people interact with music. I personally love jazz, hip-hop, neo-soul (Erykah Badu is a strong favourite), electronic hip-hop, folk, classical (the list goes on....!)
I also really enjoy making collages from scrap pieces of paper, magazines, material and photographs. I find it is so relaxing! I take part in 'art nights' with my friends from time to time where we sit around listening to good music painting, drawing or in my case, making collages! Our walls look like a crazy art gallery!

I am very interested in business and hope to start my own business one day. I really want to have my own guesthouse! I am currently talking to various people and reading a lot of books to try to educate myself on how a good business works.

I am also very interested in event planning as I

Music, Movies, and Books

I really cannot say that I have a favourite type of music or even one band. I love them all! I can tell you this however, my favourite Irish band is The Villagers. Please listen. They are amazing!
I love the movie The Constant Gardener. It explores to subject of exploitation and is extremely powerful. I studied it in school and it remains one of the movies I enjoy the most.
I have recently read a book called The Lesser Bohemians by Eimear McBride (an Irish writter) and it brought me back into the habit of reading. I could not put it down! People are calling her a Joycian as she is similar to James Joyce in her writing patters (or lack thereof). I would love to get some more reading recommendations!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not sure about amazing, but I am a co-founder of an arts collective called Common Grounds Collective (look us up on fb!). We are based in Maynooth and aim to spread art in our town. We recognised that there was a lot of talent in our area that didn't have a platform. We provide a platform for artists to share their work through an event called Home Is Where The Art Is which we hold in our living rooms. We have also hosted many different types of events including traditional Irish music nights, spoken word events and electronic nights in Dublin.

It is very fun!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn more about music, language and your culture.... while sharing lots of laughs!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my knowledge on music, from classical to electronic, to rap. I can share anything in relation to piano, even give a lesson if you want!! I can also teach some of the Irish language and my knowledge on the Irish heritage.

Countries I’ve Visited
