About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see and get into as many corners of the world that I can.

ABOUT ME

I love to go on adventures, be it flying in with a carry-on or driving cross country in my car. I like meeting people and experiencing new places!

I grew up in the suburbs of Seattle Washington. I love my city of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, but, despite living there all my life, I still can't stand the dreary lagging fall/winter/springs. I love to get out and roam whenever I can.

My favorite things growing up were participating in local children's theater and being fascinated by Biology and languages. I continued to study these subjects through high school and college and explored other subjects such as business, religious studies, anthropology, international relations....etc. I studied Spanish for about 3 years and French for 6, but, as usual, I can barely speak either now.

I had always deeply dreamed of visiting Europe but lamented how prohibitive the cost would be. In the Summer of 2008 (right after college) I had the sudden opportunity to go with a friend. I planned to be gone 2 weeks, but I was flying standby so I ended up not getting my flight back and was suddenly alone with no plans in Germany. After some panicking, I ended up going to London and staying for 4 more weeks, eventually not wanting to go home at all. After that I knew I loved travel and wanted to do so much more of it. I learned about living in hostels, out of a carry-on size bag for 6 weeks (unplanned for), about resourcefulness, grace under pressure, etc. Mostly I learned I never wanted to really be tied down, or at least not for a long long time. To this day I am commitment-phobic, don't like planning things (both work and socially) too rigidly, and my travels are almost always open ended.

After my initial Europe adventure, I had a couple more adventures here and there but mostly had a bad couple of years back home. Eventually I discovered working as a Brand Ambassador in Experiential Marketing Promotions and Event Marketing. If you've ever seen people handing out free stuff on behalf of a brand/sponsor at a fair/festival/concert/sports game or some other event, then you know what a Brand Ambassador is. It was a natural fit for my easily outgoing and friendly attitude.

Nowadays I spend my time working or going out with friends or sitting at home by myself watching my favorite TV shows on my computer and surfing the web, or cooking. I love love love going to concerts and music festivals and dance clubs and dive bars and all sorts of city night life. Seattle has some great stuff. I've taught myself a lot about food and cooking over the last couple years.

PHILOSOPHY

I live for experiences, and love newness and getting out there. I live for the freedom to travel or spontaneously do anything. I also can be a homebody and love time to myself. Sometimes a bit of routine is nice, but not for too long. I love meeting people and can make friends anywhere I go. I love SUNSHINE.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Back home I live in a small studio a ways out from the city, so it isn't conducive to hosting. Right now I'm just a surfer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed a bit in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Cologne years ago and more recently in Austin and Houston Texas, and New Orleans. Usually on my travels I stay in hostels but I want to do more surfing! I generally pack with me everything I need and just need a place to sleep, a bathroom and shower, a kitchen for light meal prep and fridge, wifi, parking availability if I'm road tripping, and maybe ability to do some laundry here and there.

Interests

Nowadays I spend my time working or going out with friends or sitting at home by myself watching my favorite TV shows on my computer and surfing the web, or cooking. I've taught myself a lot about food and cooking over the last couple years. I love love love going to concerts and music festivals and dance clubs and dive bars and all sorts of city night life. Seattle has some great stuff. I really fell in love with hiking after doing the South Kaibab trail at the Grand Canyon in 2015, but don't have as much time as I would like to do more. I also spent 2015 getting involved with VR (virtual reality) technology!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies and music, but don't really have a ready to go list of favorites. I like fun movies, comedies, romantic comedies, indies, nerdy stuff too. For music I like some rock, lots of dance and some hip hop. I've never really been good at getting through reading books, but discovered audiobooks a couple years ago and love getting to finally 'read' books that way! Growing up I was all about Harry Potter and currently I'm all about Game of Thrones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wrote my name on the Berlin wall.
Hiked the Grand Canyon
Road Tripped Cross country
Been in movies
Worked at awesome events all over the country!
