About Me

I love to travel around the Philippines and to other countries. I used to write for a travel blog and share my travel stories there. I work for a Philippine TV network for ten years now.

I have been traveling since I was a kid. My parents would bring us on vacation to different places in the Philippines. When I began working, I started traveling with friends around the country and eventually went to Hanoi, Vietnam for my first international trip in 2012. Recently I discovered the joy of solo travel and have met so many wonderful people along the way.

You can check out my adventures and know more about me through my Instagram account @mikay_sc. :)

PLEASE READ THE HOME SECTION before sending a surfing request. I will know when you didn't, and your request will be declined. 😉

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to meet fellow travelers and share experiences with them. My first host was a great guy in Guayaquil, Ecuador named Jose and he showed me how to be a good host. I also want to return the favor of hosting other travelers. This is also a nice way of seeing places in a different perspective.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have any specific favorites, but right now I'm reading Another Day by David Levithan. For movies, I love action and superhero films. For music, I'm into Kpop and a huge SHINee fan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

See the "sea of clouds" at the summit of Mount Pulag, the 3rd highest mountain in the Philippines.

I also drove an ATV to the Mayon Volcano, and finally being face-to-face with that active volcano gave me goosebumps.

Went on a Holy Land pilgrimage with my parents for two weeks!

Flew to New York and traveled around South America (Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia) by bus

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some Filipino words that might be helpful if you go to the Philippines. I could cook a mean 'sinigang!' :D

And I could also teach you some English words that you will need in conversations. I am TEFL certified, so if you prefer formal English lessons, it’s not a problem.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll try to bring something from the Philippines if I'm traveling abroad. I could also tour you around Manila if ever you travel here. I could cook for you, too!

Countries I’ve Visited
