Overview
About Me
I'm a fun people person who truly enjoys connecting with others. I recently left my gig as a Career Counselor at UNC Wilmington to pursue my lifelong dream of traveling country. I love planning, but I've also learned to enjoy every moment and go with the flow.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As mentioned in the "About Me" section, I recently decided to leave my "real job" and follow my dream of traveling the USA by car. It's something I've wanted to do since I was 11. Finally, at 29, I just decided to go for it. There's never a perfect time. Now's as good as any.
Interests
I'm into music (I play a few instruments), coffee, craft beer, and learning about people. I'm very introspective, but also a great listener.
Music, Movies, and Books
If it's considered rock, I like it. I'm also learning to enjoy other genres, and can get into some 90s rap, pop, and anything that has a good sound.
I'm not a huge movie person, but I'm working on it. I enjoy the new age comedies like 40-year-old Virgin, Wedding Crashers, and the like, but also enjoy some action-adventure, drama, and an occasional chick flick. But don't tell any of my ex-girlfriends.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'd have to say most recently, quitting my job to embark on this crazy adventure. But since it's just getting under way, I'll say the other amazing thing would be climbing Masada in Israel.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm trained as a Career Counselor (after leaving a crappy corporate job), so I'm always learning and teaching. I love finding out what makes people unique, but I also love finding common ground and making connections. Nothing makes me happier than bringing people together, whether it's for a social gathering, a cause, to solve a problem, or whatever the reason.
I'm always happy to have conversations about life and careers. It's still a huge passion of mine, even despite leaving the job at UNCW.
I mentioned my dream is to see the country. I'm truly excited to learn about the cultures, food, nightlife, and everything that makes up a city or region. Any insight that hosts can share would be huge. I plan on blogging about the experience along the way.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I recently took up coffee roasting and am thinking my next career may be in the coffee industry. I would love to share my fresh coffee with my hosts. If you drink Folgers, be prepared to never go back.
I also took up homebrewing (beer) a few years ago. Any homebrewers out there, I'd love to brew! If not, but interested, I'd be happy to share. If you can boil water, you can brew.
I also play some music - mostly bass, but can keep a beat on the drums, play a few tunes on the guitar/piano, and most recently took up the trumpet. If you play, I'd love to jam.
