About Me

I used to work as a mechanical deaign engineer for buildings in downtown New York but have decided to quit my job to travel the world for 1 year instead!

I studied architectural engineering with a focus in mechanical systems at Penn State. After college I lived in Brooklyn for 3 years while working as an engineer in NYC. I may or may not go back to my engineering job depending on where this trip takes me or what inspires me along the way.

The plan for the trip is 3 months Europe > 3 months southeast Asia > 3 months Australia, Fiji, New Zealand > 3 months South America

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As stated earlier I am just really looking forward to meeting people along this trip and hearing there stories. Especially locals. Meeting tons of Americans, Australians, and Canadien backpackers at hostels can get old haha.

Interests

I like History and Geography.
I also want to learn Spanish by end of this trip. Hoping I will become conversationa/fluent when in South America!

Music, Movies, and Books

I lived in Brooklyn for 3 years which had a big indie music scene so I am into that. I also listen to anything except country. My favorite artist is always changing but at the moment is probably Sylvan Esso.

I love all sorts of movies and especially documentaries. Who doesn't?! Some of my favorites are Lord of the Rings, The Beach, and Jurassic Park. A Map for Saturday is my favorite backpacking movie/documentary.

I like to read a lot of nonfiction/biographies as well as novels. My favorite biography/book is probably the Power Broker. My favorite autobiography is Travels by Michael Chrichton (writer of jurassic park) - GREAT read for travellers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycled 110 miles in one day from downtown NYC to the hamptons (took me 12 hours!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am looking for some inspiration during this year-long trip on what I really want to get out of life. I know an office job in downtown NYC is not the answer! So I just love talking to people from different cultures and hearing there stories and maybe incorporate some of there best virtues into my own life.

I can teach you the boring subject of engineering. Or about how cut-throat the engineering, architecture, construction industry in New York is haha.
I can also cook some good italian dishes (learned from my Italian mother).

Good company with my positive outlook on life! Lets exchange stories and laughs.
