About Me

I'm a pretty talkative, outgoing person. I am a vegan triathlete, entrepreneur, trail blazer and health motivator. I run marathons in costume, and make some pretty interesting halloween costumes - which then get used for races. I've been living in Tokyo, Japan for the last 6 months, and have been in Seoul, South Korea for a month. I'm making my way back to Toronto, Canada, skipping through a few places to see friends and see what the entrepreneurial startup community is like. I'm currently involved in 2 startups, and looking to start a few more. I'm easy going, clean, and most likely you'll never notice I'm there. But, with that said, I love genuine conversation. So we'll surely have plenty to talk about if you prefer to chat, otherwise I won't really be in your way. I'm just getting around to filling out my profile, so it's bare in terms of recommendations and friends (just added everyone, but not sure if they'll confirm before I get to where I'm going).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was never in a situation to host people myself, and currently I am on the road, so I can't do much to accommodate others. But, I intend to host once I get settled. I am travelling on a light budget (being a broke entrepreneur) so wherever I can stretch some money, I will. In return I can offer plenty of conversation and I cook, well, I cook vegan.

Interests

I am a vegan triathlete/entrepreneur/traveller/motivator/trail blazer/health and fitness guru/marathon running coach/costume runner/incredibly open and compassionate dude.

I'm pretty crazy in terms of what I will try (sports, adventure and that type of thing). I'm very open and honest, but not to the point of being ignorant. I just say that because I always want to give back and help others. Part of my ethos is to help others achieve the dreams they don't think they can. If that means sharing my interests in veganism, or running, or taking on personal challenges, I'm more than happy to share a cup of coffee to chat. I like human interaction, and I look for genuiune conversation with whomever I am with. I hate small talk. I mean, what's the point?

Music, Movies, and Books

Electronic mainly - but there are more genres of electronic that probably all other music genres combined.
Classical too.
Not really an EDM kind of guy
more so: trip hop/downtempo/lounge/instrumental/cinematic/jazz hop/progressive
also folk/rock/pop and all that other stuff.

not really a fan of hard rap or country, but everything else

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I raised money for the Terry Fox Cancer Foundation in a friend's name. I coached this person in my half-marathon running clinic. He died of colon cancer before he could do his marathon or his Ironman triathlon.

I did the CNTower Stair climb (1779 steps) plus the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront marathon in his name to raise funds.

The stairs killed my legs, and the marathon hurt even more, but there is a crazy story behind how I finished with zero pain.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have learned in the past few years that I am an entrepreneur at heart. I'm currently involved in a few startups, with hopes to return to Japan to start a few more. I go against the status quo, and if I can share my stories - which usually involve quitting really nice comfortable jobs or standing up to asshole CEOs who steal from their own companies - I will. I encourage everyone to take a step outside their comfort zone, and I look to cultivate a friendly, yet challenging perspective in the people I meet.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, beer, banter, funny stories, running coaching (I'm a bit out of shape after my time in Japan), Origami! (studied for 30 years)
