About Me

I'm a student not only of law, but also of the world, its people, cultures and its couches.

I'm a funny (in both meanings) guy with good old neutral Swiss manners. My daily goal is to carpe my diem, no matter how many functions of my army knife I have to use (usually it's just the bottle opener). I love exploring and learning new things by just walking around, getting lost and finding the flow of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Basically, CS to me is like hostels, but better. Not only because it's for free (which anyhow is a big advantage of course), but also because you meet exactly these people you love the most in hostels; the open-minded, funny and adventurous bunch you'd wanna take home.

These people however are all amazing in another way, too. They just want to help and get in touch with complete strangers. Why? Because why not. In a world in which I feel the confidence in people you don't know is decreasing, CS is one of the beautiful examples of that there is still some trusting left, as a host as well as a guest - maybe the most important thing after all.

Interests

Besides the obvious interest in traveling, I'm a big fan of getting outside. Whether it's a nice hike in- or outside a city/town/village, any sport, some smooth bar game or a festival, I love to leave the house and find use for the tons of (positive) energy I've got.

As amazing as the world outside is the world inside our minds. I love to speak about the world, from the big questions via the big strings in its history to its current happenings - and how different people see those things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kinds of music, except for traditional Swiss Music (type in "Jodel" on youtube and you know why). My favourite "genre" anyhow is happy music.

My favourite type of the written word you find in newspapers and books about current (mostly political) happenings.

I love movies that blow your mind, because they are so complex in so many ways and/or play with your mind. E. g. my favourite movies are V like Vendetta, Inception and one of my favourite TV-shows is black mirror.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked from New Orleans, LA, to the Pacific Ocean in Los Angeles, CA. After I did some hitchhiking in Brazil, I felt optimistic in doing the same in the United States. In the US, I discovered a new challenge: Not being seen as a homeless who only wants money - unfortunately, I apparently looked as such the very first day I tried. So in more than 3 hours I didn't get any ride. But could have been worse, I mean drivers gave me one dollar, an Arizona ice tea and some fried chicken. After some good stories including a free ride on a private plane, I eventually crossed more than half of the North American continent, summing up to some 3'800 miles of hitchhiking.

Some more were added when I hitchhiked through Slovakia during the summer of 2019. And who knows, maybe there'll be added some more to the count one day :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn and share everything. Except for my Swiss chocolate.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very friendly and always smiling great cook (I think so at least) that would love to share stories and cultures while we're having a typical Swiss dish prepared by me, such as Röstizza (ok, not so typical, but imagine Rösti [Swiss fried patotoes] combined with Pizza - and now stop your saliva production, please).
Besides it is not a question that I treat your home as if it was mine, neither that my current host is my future guest back in Switzerland!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Brazil, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Tunisia, United States
