About Me

Over the past 6 years, I've been making a career change from civil engineering to development and humanitarian work. I spent 2 years with Peace Corps in a small village in Mali working on water and sanitation. After a coup d'état, I spent a year in Kenya and 5 months in the Philippines before going back to school.

After graduating in May, I joined Médecins Sans Frontières, with whom I've been working for the past 7 months in Chad. I just closed out the project, and will now be spending some time in Amsterdam and in France - my first time in Europe! I'm excited to relax and experience the place for the first time, and get to know some cool new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm currently closing out my first mission with Médecins Sans Frontières in Chad on water and sanitation, and will be travelling to Europe to debrief. I'll be in Amsterdam, then fly down to Nice for a few days, make my way over to Marseille, and fly up to Paris.

I'm very excited to spend some time in Europe for the first time. I speak French and am excited to just spend some time and relax, get to know the region a bit. I look forward to relaxing at some cafés, enjoying some good food and conversations with people, biking and exploring, perhaps catching some live music...

Always happy to get to know cool people and share experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all sorts of music... from hip hop/rap, folk, rock, some electronic, and especially enjoying experiencing music from different regions of the world. Malian and Senegalese music have become some of my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Live in a mud hut in a small village in Mali, West Africa for 2 years, becoming a part of the community and working alongside them. Many amazing experiences during that time, and many great friends.
