About Me

Hi there Couchsurfer! I'm new to this site, though I have done my fair share of couch-hosting over the years, I assure you. My momma raised me right, so I will respect your place like it was my own. Growing up camping across the national park system with my family, we always had a rule that was brought up at the end of every trip: leave the place better than the way you found it. If needed, I'd be happy to help out around your place with cleaning up inside or out, shoveling snow, washing dishes, fixing plumbing issues, finish carpentry, walking the dog, or giving you a sober ride. Even if it's just a music or book recommendation, I'll do my best to add some value in return for the stay!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm working in Vail for the Winter 2015 / 2016 season and will be very busy between work and my own personal development projects. I'm building a freelancing company, learning new coding languages, and of course skiing in my spare time.

I am simplifying my life and focused on gaining some new experiences. I've sold most of my personal belongings, and I'm now traveling the world while visiting friends and family. I've met some cool people through couchsurfing, though it was always friends or roommates that had the account, so you won't see much history here (yet).

Interests

Life is too short to wait until we retire to fulfill our dreams. I'm interested in adding to my collection of stories now while I have the advantage of youth. If it involves skiing, hiking, mountain biking, pickup soccer, running, racing, fishing, hunting, boating, live music shows, jamming, or college football, I am down!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a summer in Alaska on a remote camp for oil workers. Commercial-fished and had adventures. Was adrift in the Cook Inlet in Alaska for 9 hours in an 18-foot skiff. Caught a ride back to shore in a Coast Guard helicopter. Came too close for comfort to a momma Grizzly and her two "little" 400-lb cubs.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach minor guitar or banjo lessons and can help with physics, calculus, and accounting studies.

I would like to learn techniques for continuing to simplify my life. Eliminating distractions from what truly matters.

I'll gladly share some stories, books, or music with my host.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will play you a song and write you a poem. I'm also great with minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical or mechanical (small or large engine) repairs. Happy to help with laundry, dishes, house cleaning, snow shoveling, dog walking, DDing, or any household or computer-based project that you've been dreading.
