About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn something new every day

ABOUT ME

I've lived, studied, and traveled all over the world. I'm also a big fan of soccer, volleyball, and pretty much anything outdoors.

PHILOSOPHY

The best way to better understand your own culture is to experience more of others ... Or as Mark Twain said, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts"

Life can only be understood backward, but it must be lived forward. (S. Kierkegaard)

If life is like a book, living in one country your entire life is like only reading one page.

Integrity is what you do when no one is watching.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

There's nothing difficult if you only begin - some people contemplate a task until it looms so big, it seems impossible, but I just begin and it gets done somehow. There would be no coral islands if the first bug sat down and began to wonder how the job was to be done. (John Billings)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In the summer of 2013 I rode my bicycle from Portsmouth, VA --> Kentucky --> IL --> MO --> Kansas --> CO --> UT --> AZ --> San Diego, CA and couch surfed along the way meeting all sorts of great people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been to several social events in DC, surfed w/ people on my bike trip across the country, and hosted 30 or so fantastic travelers and met some of the best people I know.

Interests

Anything outdoors! I'll try pretty much do anything once. The more adventurous the better. I also enjoy good stories and good discussions with open minded individuals of a variety of backgrounds. Especially, over a good drink/meal.
