About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoying life and searching for meaning through experience.

ABOUT ME

Hello All,

So...after over a year it's time to update this profile but that still means you should watch this video I shout while in Cambodia and yes I was wearing Pink and leopard stripe spandex, which were absolutely amazing. Okay, now that its out of the way, heres the link...http://youtu.be/A_BBW4GuSDg

As of last year I was doing some fun stuff...traveling and doing some couch surfing in places ranging from the busteling metropolis of Honk Kong to the countryside of China and Cambodia. It's has been more than amazing and I've leanred a great deal about myself along the way. It's all fits into this mantra I have which is to live "an examined life" but more important seek meaning through experience.

Okay so in the last year I had this nagging desire, against the advice of everyone I knew, to kayak across the sea from Japan to Korea with the goal of uniting the countries in the fight against ocean pollution. Now that I can check that off my list (http://www.JapantoKorea.asia) I'm working to actually follow through on my word. I've done a few speeches on both Japan and Korea and most recently I will be giving a talk in Tokyo at the end of January (2015) and in Korea in February.

Also, as of the past few weeks I have embarked on a unsupported 1000K kayak expedition up the pacidic coast of Japan to Tokyo (http://www.Michaelreid.global). I'm now about halfway into my journey and like my other enviormnetally themed expeditions, this is also to raise awareness about the problem of ocean polltion.

In the end I'm the kind of guy that believes in the power of each person to lead a full and meaningful life. I'm the can do guy...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the time I've couch-surfed, I was able to enter the lives of various people, although for a short time, and share in their thoughts, ideas, fears, and values. I would not trade it for the world and look forward to to do it again as I continue to travel and learn about myself and the world around me.

Interests

Basically anything...but just to name a few: expedition kayaking, biking (mountain & road), ski boarding, swimming, running (from anything), body boarding, skating, paint balling, hiking, scuba diving, etc
