About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See and experience the world, one small place to the next...

ABOUT ME

I enjoy traveling and seeing the world.

I was in a car accident a couple years ago. Some guy with a cell phone wasn't paying attention and plowed into the back of my Jeep. The seatbelt is what got me. it twisted my back and pushed a disk into my spinal cord. Now they won't let me drive the Greyhound Routes. There is a new surgery that shows promise towards getting me back behind the wheel.

In the meantime I travel and try to get the most of life.

UPDATE: The doctor has let me go back to driving part time... Hope to see you on the road soon. I am now driving for Sunset Tours doing charter bus work.

PHILOSOPHY

Nothing you do in life is important, but it is important that you do every little thing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have pretty limited space, but do usually have a couch. Be a good place for a young guy to crash for a day or two. There are two of us in the house Zach (14) and myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but what a great idea.

Interests

Traveling. I enjoy reading, and I really enjoy experiencing new places. I prefer learning about new places through the eyes of locals. Hosteling has provided great chances, but is seems the are increasing in price constantly. For example it was $40 cheaper to get a super 8 room in Indy then staying at the Indy hostel for three nights. Couch surfing seems like a great add to the mix.

Music, Movies, and Books

I prefer international movies. They just seem to have more variety and depth then the constant remakes that Hollywood puts out.

I like some crime books such as Grisham and Cornwell. I also like to read non fiction on cultural studies and other subjects. Whatever peaks my interest on the day I go to Barnes and Noble. I travel a lot, so libraries don't work out well for me. I spend a lot of time in used book stores and Barnes and Noble "bargan books".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen and done a lot. I started out life wanting to be a psychologist. I decided the best way to know how to help people is through experiencing what they have been through. That started my life "vagabonding". I have lived and traveled all over the country. I tried to find jobs that would allow me to travel or re-locate frequently. In doing this, I did end up spending some time doing case management, but realized our society is not set up to try to help people become independent. So, I stuck to what I love... Traveling and experiencing life.

Of course driving Greyhound Bus routes has brought me lots of fun and interesting experiences and I got to interact with a lot of people from all over the world.

Through my travels I was quick to try to make friends with people of other cultures. For example in New Mexico one of my best friends was moving into town from his reservation. I got to go places on the reservations that most white guys would never get to.
