Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To cover as much ground as I can in Asia.
ABOUT ME
Completed my teacher training in the UK and taught French and German there for 2 years. Then travelled around Asia, living in Kuala Lumpur for 3 months. I went to Nepal, India, Vietnam and Thailand during the 6 month trip. Did my CELTA in Nepal and then moved to Rome to teach in a private school for a year. Now I'm living in Penang working at an International School.
PHILOSOPHY
I come from a small town just outside of Liverpool and many people grow up there and never end up leaving and seeing the world. There are so many different cultures and people out there that I believe it's a crime not to experience something different at least once in your life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted a few people now and it's a great way to meet people and experience different people and cultures.
Interests
Music is very important and any time I'm alone there has to be something on. I've failed at every effort I've made to play an instrument but that doesn't put me off. I like foreign cinema and going out for a few beers with friends when I can. Live music is also important but I tend to not go to many gigs nowadays; always live music at a beach bar though!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music The Strokes, The Libertines, anything Motown, The Smiths and most importantly the Beatles (to name a few). Movies: The Godfather trilogy, City of God, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. My favourite TV shows are: Mad Men, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office (UK & US) and Game of Thrones. Books: Lee Child's Jack Reacher series, Stephen King's novels, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, To Kill a Mockingbird.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Fiji was fantastic as I realised it was as far away from home that I could be before going back. Being so accepted by the people of Lawai village and being invited to watch their cava ceremony makes me realise that small communities are so important and they're disappearing more and more.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach people French and German and also scouse (the local dialect of Liverpool) as people often consider that to be a different language. I can also make a good potato salad.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Fiji, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam
