Présentation
À propos de moi
Hello! My name is Michele and I'm Italian.
I'm a Christian, a polyglot, a translator, and a curious person in general.
I consider myself as a guy with a definite personality who doesn't follow the mainstream.
I can look serious at first sight, but I easily become friendly, talkative and even funny.
Meet me and I may decide to open my life book to you!
Meanwhile, you can have a look at the references other Couchsurfers wrote about me.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I live between Rovigo, near Venice, in North-Eastern Italy and Taupont, a village in Brittany, North-Western France.
My family and I hosted travellers between 2011 and 2014 just like medieval monks hosted pilgrims. Now hosting has become more difficult, but I may still be able to host you, mostly when I'm in Rovigo.
I surf whenever I can during my trips.
I have organized a couple of meetings in my town Rovigo and attended a few meetings elsewhere.
I spread the word about CS among fellow travelers I happen to meet during my trips or at home.
I really like meeting nearby travellers and local people. So, please, let me know if you are in Brittany (mostly in the area between Rennes, Vannes and Ploërmel) and would like to meet up!
Centres d'intérêt
I am deeply interested in Europe and anything relating to it (culture, literature, history, geography, society).
I wish to learn as many European languages as possible and visit as many European countries as possible.
Anyway, I am very broadly interested and I'd say I can talk about anything.
I like writing and making new friends, so feel free to send me a message if you like my profile!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
MUSIC:
I mostly listen to Italian and European pop music. My favourite period goes from 1960s to 1980s, but I also like some contemporary singers like Céline Dion, Katie Melua and others. If you are my host or guest, I can let you listen to some of my favourite singers.
MOVIES:
I'm not a movie-fan, but I fell in love with a few films, e.g. 180, Pay It Forward, Forrest Gump, Love Actually, Juno, Just Like Heaven, Slumdog Millionaire, 8 femmes, Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis, Rien à Déclarer.
I also like a few American series like "The Nanny", "Dharma & Greg" (and older ones like "The Jeffersons" or "Mork & Mindy"), as well as some Italian series.
BOOKS:
Reading has always been my greatest hobby since I was a child. I can enjoy all genres. My favourite authors include Oriana Fallaci, Agatha Christie, but I loved a bunch of other books.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
I have been admiring my mom fighting against cancer since 2005. Her renewed faith and positive attitude toward life are really "amazing"!
I have visited a certain number of breath-taking places in Europe, including Dune de Pilat in France, Kornati islands in Croatia, as well as many wonderful cities like London, Paris, Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, Vilnius, and counting.

TEACHING:
If you want to learn Italian or improve your skills, I will gladly be your tutor. Just bear in mind that I'm neither a professional teacher nor the most patient person on Earth...
However, the first thing I will have to teach you, if you don't speak Italian, is the pronunciation of my name. Yes, in Italian it is a masculine name and it's not pronounced like in English or in French! I'll be very happy if you learn to say it correctly.
[Some hints to learn it prior to meeting me (the stressed syllable is the second, -che-):
for English speakers: Mee-kay-lay
for French speakers: Mi-quai-lé
for German speakers: Mi-kä-le
for Spanish speakers: Mi-qué-le
for Portuguese speakers: Mi-quê-lé]
LEARNING:
I would like to learn all the official languages of the European countries. So far, I know "only" French, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Polish well or very well. I have a minor knowledge of Catalan, Dutch, Swedish, Romanian, Slovenian, Serbian, Croatian, modern Greek, Finnish and Czech. Oh, I also know Latin very well and ancient Greek at an intermediate level. If you speak any of the languages above, I will be happy to make a language exchange with you. If you speak any other European language, I'd love it if you could teach me something.
SHARING: I like sharing acts of kindness and displays of affection with my hosts or guests, and I easily share stories about my life and the hurdles I had to overcome. However, there's something I would be glad if you could share with me: happiness, self-confidence and Faith (there's never enough of them)!
Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes
I enjoy having interesting talks with my hosts, so that we can learn more about each other's culture.
I can also help them practise Italian and other languages I know, and give advice about translations or language learning.
