About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Started from London I'll always do my best going to follow the sunshine

ABOUT ME

I was born in Hong Kong, a Chinese that speaks Cantonese as my first language. I started to learn English at the age of 12. I went to London for my higher education at age 20. Then immigrated with my parents to Vancouver, Canada. Married and brought up three children, two girls and one boy. They too went to universities in Canada.

Quite simple. In the morning starting from 7am I do Tai Chi exercise. Then go for a long walk by the marina or by the seaside.

I like writing novels as my past time. I wrote three books but only one was published in the UK. They were all written in English.
I lived in Hong Kong, Uk and Canada. Also recently in China where I learned to speak in Mandarin.
I am not working as an accountant anymore but am still very good with figures. Therefore, my children, with my inherited DNA are best in Mathematic. My daugher is a psychologist and my son is an engineer. They all live in Canada

PHILOSOPHY

everyone must be willing to work towards their own happiness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

New couchsurfer. Eager to begin!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I began my couchsurfing experience in Jan of this year. After my good friend René Betancourt introduced the idea to me while he was my roommate in barcelona.

I Thought it was it was a crazy idea¡ because my previous traveling experience was limited to conventional methods such as hostels and hotels.

I thought to myself how it is possible to meet someone nice AND get a place to stay, FOR FREE¡?

However my spirit of adventure called my to give it a try¡ So i DID¡

AND HERE ARE----

I went to Lisbon and was hosted by Viera & Tobias.
A Canadian tai chi enthusiast. Tobias from Alexandria Egypt always wanted to meet a person from china.

When i arrived in Lisbon i followed her exact instructions, to try to get to her house.however i lost the way somehow, in the middle of the night with nowhere to go...A text. With no reply..Then somehow suggested a trip to the police station to ask for directions would solve my problem. So I did. Not only the young police officer helped me to find the address with the help of his smart phone. He even offered me a lift¡

Hop in, he says¡

Upon arrival. My Host was shocked to find at her doorstep with a police escort. After a quick run down of the situation. She felt a bit sorry, and mentioned she could have met me at the bus stop since it was so late.

As it turned out, after she received my text message. Abdu was on the way to pick me up¡ little did he know, i was one step ahead. So of course he missed me.

A few minutes later.

Abdu is back in the house unaware of my presence. I thought he must've been a little bit angry with me. Since he went quite a distance to the reach the bus stop. and I didnt even wait for him.

but instead of being angry, he began to cook me an egyptian meal with chicken cooked in a pot with very tasty rice cooked with butter. We sat up and talked until the early hours of the morning. My first CS experience.

Later i discovered after talking to him--that he was quite a patriotic person and he wanted to organize a demonstration in Lisbon and supporting his fellow countrymen who were demonstrating in Cairo that very weekend. However after all the work he prepared after 2 or 3 days i.e. banners loudspeakers and sending numerous invitations to egyptians he knew in Lisbon whom he thought might be supporting the cause. only one person turned up apart from himself and THAT was his girlfriend. So i was very moved by his patriotism.

In February of 2012, My second host in berlin Luna warned me that when i arrive it might be snowing. So be prepared to get stuck in the airport without transportation and my arrival time was close to midnight. So again, My adventurous spirit did not allow me to back off from such a situation. I braved the "storm" arrived on time as planned. To my surprise, my host's roomate Tobias met me at the airport with his car because it was not snowing. Had it been snowing driving would not be a possibility being that the airport was a good 45 mins away from their home.

I taught Luna Tai Chi and she learned in 3 days what usually takes 3 weeks to learn. A Natural! Whats more her movements were so graceful i couldnt have done it better myself. After all my years of teaching my dream student! Also i taught her and her friend Angela some self defense tactics. They found it funny and laughed so much as i taught them. Also, Tobias gave me a very good book. That i will always treasure as a parting gift.

Today is march 31 and i have just returned from my 3rd CS experience in Brussels. The experience equally amazing.

HOSTED BY; ISIS & CHRISTOPHER a young mexican couple who so kindly hosted me even after christopher regrettably had lost his job. I was going to back out from this invitation considering the circumstances. However miraculous happened during my stay. Not only did his previous employer offer him a new position he also had interviews in Munich expenses paid! (WAY TO GO) inviting him to be a rocket scientist. He is now in a pickle, he went from no job. To too many jobs to choose from. Very exciting!

2nd Host- upon arrival to the address which i thought to be his place of residence. To my surpise i found a huge gate lock and chain. It turned out he explained, His studio flat was part of a converted warehouse. Huge bunkbed with 2 decks. Again he told me he just lost his job. With the contract expiring on the 31 of march with the international courier, however on the first day of my arrival, he already began his new profession. As a language teacher for a private language institute while still having to complete a contract with his previous employer. So it was a bit hectic to say the least. However the last evening of my stay, not without difficulties we managed to stage a 5 person in his girlfriends apartment in the posh district of shuman where the European Parliament is situated. I pretended to be participating in the top chef competition and my audience gave me one hour to prepare the whole dinner.

To my surprise i did not manage to complete a 3 course dinner plus wine in the time allowed. So i suggested they pretend to be members of the European Parliament and petition for an extension of 15 mins. My reasons for mitigating circumstances being my helper couldnt keep up with lightning fast hands and orders. Whats worse my lack of familiarity with said kitchen easily added some clumsy minutes to my time. Therefore i had my excuses "like a true politician."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was waiting at a bus stop in Canada. It was going to be a long wait. So i took out my taichi sword and began doing a taichi session.

Shortly after a curious woman freaked once she saw my sword. Thinking it to be a lethal weapon she called the police! Two of them proceeded to stop my bus. Search through my belonging and search for the "lethal weapon."

One of the officers was a chinese man and spoke to me.

Guess im pretty dangerous looking! (it was only a ceremonial (plastic) sword)

Teach, Learn, Share

I do all three.

I can teach you some canto-mandarin phrases. Maybe some taichi or my own style of yoga or some french cuisine. =)
