About Me

A friendly dutch guy, almost finished with his study and at the beginning of the rest of his life. I studied Archaeology and currently I am finishing my follow-up study in Leiden, which is a Master of Science in Human Osteology (human bones!).
I'm pretty laid back, love discussing stuff, going jogging or swimming, puzzles and escape rooms, sitting at a terrace with a beer and good company, seeing more of the world and learning about the history and culture, but at home I enjoy playing (board)games, watching a movie or series, or one of my other many hobbies. As a result I am never bored.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I'm interested in travelling. Right now I am in a phase where I don't have a lot of things restricting me or keeping me in one place, so travelling and meeting people and learning about local culture is very appealing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: From Foo Fighters to Tchaikovsky, I like almost any kind of music.

Movies: Seven Samurai, Crash, Sucker Punch, Guardians of the Galaxy, LotR trilogy, Star Wars, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, and many more.

Series: Scrubs, Firefly, Game of Thrones, Westworld, Walking Dead, Angel, Fullmetal Alchemist, Brooklyn nine nine, Master of none, Samurai Jack, Star Trek, Black Sails, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Daredevil, and many more as well.

Books: Animal Farm, 1984, Eragon trilogy, Warcraft books, The Dark Tower saga, and a bit more. Reading is not my forte, but I try to read more. Discovered that I enjoy listening to audio books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked at an excavation in Rome. Although I melted away in the sun, it was an amazing experience to help shape the past of Rome.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach about Archaeology and Human Osteology (the study of human bones), but also about Dutch culture and language, photography, or any other thing really. How to play chess? Just ask!

I would love to learn to speak more languages, to learn about local food or how to prepare it, learn about the best places to visit, how archaeology works in other countries, fun facts, life hacks.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A friendly attitude, sincere interest, political/cultural stuff to compare or discuss, a healthy dose of nerdy information, possibly a hiking/travelling buddy if the host would be interested, top-class humor...probably...maybe...definitely. I love sharing insights and talking about how life works in your area. I also need time to recharge myself after intensive days, so in return I understand and will always respect the host's need for privacy or alone time.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Spain, Vatican City State
