I've spent almost half of the past ten years in India. I operate a "by donation" acupuncture clinic and yoga studio in Varanasi where I also study and practice Philosophy and the Vedic Sciences (Ayurveda and Jyotish).

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I'm trying couch surfing for a few reasons: 1. It allows for a little more personal contact with a place. 2. My winter clinic is by donation which means I'm lucky that I make money to get by (and I'm not sure I can even claim that much). 3. I have a very long flight into Vancouver and it would be nice to see it for a couple days before making my way inland.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Music: I listen to a lot of folk music from Canada and USA like Dylan and Lightfoot, as well as some more classical folk music from Turkey, Eastern Europe and India. I love the Indian Ghazals. Live music is always good somehow.
I don't watch many movies but I enjoyed the two I saw this year: The Holy Mountain & the Seven Samurai.
I read a lot of books, Knut Hamsun is one of my favorite novelists. I've been more focused on the heavier philosophies of India and China lately though.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

So many amazing experiences in life that it's hard to pick just one, but I'd have to say visiting a head-hunting tribe on the India Myanmar border involved some pretty amazing experiences. Writing a book was also pretty cool.
