ABOUT ME ** LGBT friendly!!**

I am from a very rural part of the state of Louisiana in the DEEEEP South (USA) and grew up in church. My dad was a Southern Baptist minister, but it went in one ear and out the other. I was a gymnast and cheerleader for the majority of my childhood and into my mid 20s. I somehow managed to escape my hometown in the Bible Belt to the wonderful city of New Orleans, and studied, my first time around, at the University of New Orleans, where I was a college cheerleader. For future reference, every univerity I attended, I was a college cheerleader. I moved to Orlando, Florida, to train with Scott Johnson, 1988 US Gymnastics' Olympic Team Captain. I blew out my knee (ACL) during that time, and that ended my competitive gymnastics' career. I then focused on competitive college cheerleading and qualified for the College National Championship cheerleading squad at FAU (Florida Atlantic University). After three years there, I moved back to Southern Louisiana to finish BA #2 at McNeese State University, where I was elected Homecoming King my senior year by the student body, as well as being named MSU'S Man of the Year. So, as you can see, gymnastics and cheerleading defined me for most of my life. Defined. Past Tense.

Now, I'm enjoying being a grown up, leading a mundane, quiet lifestyle in contrast to my younger years. I've been an English teacher for the past 8 years and taught and tutored Spanish in the states for a few years. prior to starting my ESL teaching career in South Korea. After over a year there, I moved to a rural province in Vietnam and was there for over five years, so, yes, I can speak Vietnamese quite well. Currently, I'm in Cambodia and absolutely love everything about the city of Phnom Penh. I think I'll settle here for a while.

I go to bed early, and I wake up early (but with a power nap, I can be easily persuaded to stay up late). I stay busy with work and am very friendly and outgoing - I was my university's homecoming king and cheerleading captain so that gives you an idea of my energy and what you're getting yourself into when you meet me - ha!

PHILOSOPHY

I have three mottos that portray my character:
#1 - Cliche' but I stand by it: "Treat others the way you want to be treated."
#2 - "What other people think of me is none of my business."
#3 - "You can't choose your family, but you can sure as Hell choose not to speak to them!"

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live on Russian Blvd., the same main highway the airport is on. My apartment building is directly across from RUPP (Royal University of Phnom Penh) roughly halfway between the airport and the Riverside area and is very private with private elevator and 24-hour security guards on duty. I am about a 10-minute tuk tuk ride to the backpacker/Riverside areas of the city. You can see my location by typing the following coordinates into Google Earth or Google Maps:

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted three times at my place when I lived in Vietnam. I should get them to write another review. They were friends first, but I've yet to host strangers. I will, though.. soon! I crashed on my friend, Toan's, couch in NYC Summer 2012. Except for my snoring, I was a great CSer. :)

Interessen

I'm a bit of a homebody when I'm not working. I like movies and quiet evenings at home with a cocktail in hand. I've resolved to be more social and go out more with my friends on the weekends in 2015. So far, I'm off to a great start!

Lehren, lernen, teilen

A former college gymnast and cheerleader, I can teach you the steps and skills needed to execute a back handspring. You might even learn it with me in a day! It's happened before. I can also teach you how to speak with a very thick Southern accent. Hiiii, y'aaall!
