About Me

Hi everyone!

My name is Mikel Vergara and I am 24 years old guy living in Paris. I come from Donosti-San Sebastián, a beautiful city in the Basque Country in northern part of Spain (you must visit it!). I studied renewable energies engieneering but I am currently working in Paris as an electrical engineer.

I will be delighted to show you Paris! Even if I recently arrived here, I already found some nice places appart from the most turistic ones.

I am keen on learning and doing new things. New languages, new sports, new ways of thinking...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am an open minded guy interested in meeting and knowing people from different cultures. So, nothing better than couchsurfing for this. -No matter the gender, skin, religion, culture... You are welcome in my flat!-

As I am an active traveller, I know that sometimes the struggle of finding a place to stay is real, So I open my flat's doors to all travellers visiting Paris!

Appart from sharing the city with the visitors, we could also share some good French beers (even if France is known for the wine, they also have some good craft beers).

Interests

I am an active person and I like any kind of sport (this doesn't mean I'm good at them). I go climbing very often (bouldering), so if you like climbing we could go to a climbing room close to my flat and have fun!

Appart from climbing, playing music is one of my other hobbies (trying to play music, actually). I play the guitar (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzmqHm54qMw there you have the last concert I played with my friends for a bunch of drunk friends). Now I am learning to play the drums.

So if you also like music, maybe we could arrange something and play some or go to some concerts!

Music, Movies, and Books

All kind of music genres... depending on the mood... Blues, Rock, Jazz, Reggae, Basque Rap/hip hop, Reggaeton...
Regarding the bands: Toots and the Maytals, Jimi Hendrix, Berri Txarrak, Wes Montgomery, Led Zeppelin, Glaukoma (Basque reggae-hip hop... a good one), AC/DC, Gorillaz, Calle 13, El Kanka... and a long long long list...

Regarding the films: GOOD comedy films: Monthy Python and the Holy Grail or Life of Brian for example... Some others like V for Vendetta, Crash, Interestellar, The Godfather, Gladiator and some other classics.

A special mention to TV series like Breaking Bad, Narcos (I do not have any drug issue, really), Stranger Things...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm sorry, I do not have any superpower :(

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn any basic word/sentences from the visitor's language or taste some typical dish from their country.

I offer the languages I can speak or some Spanish omelet in exchange (if you are interested too).
If you want, I can share what I know about guitar with you. I am not a professional player, but I play a bit. And of course, I will be delighted to learn more about it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A flat in Paris 20 minutes far from the city center, a guitar, a little drumset, a place to climb nearby and some beers. Not that bad, isn't it?

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, France, Spain
