About Me

ABOUT ME

I had a great childhood, even though I disliked school.
The political chance in 1989 was a great thing, cause I sensed the pressure in a dictatorship even in the age of 6. To get no more oppressed by prententious authorities is a tremendous relief for me!
Now I can do what I want and travel round the world and usually escape to the south in the winter months. Serbia became my favourite region in the last years.

PHILOSOPHY

"insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties and nations, and epochs it is the rule."

"a thing that is explained ceases to concern us"

"the maturity of man - that means, to have reaquired the seriousness that one had as a child at play."

"when we have to change an opinion about any one, we charge heavily to his account the inconvenience he thereby causes us"

"one should part from life as Ulysses parted from Nausicaa - blessing it rather than in love with it."

all quotations by friedrich nietzsche

Interests

philosophy, history, classical music (Chopin!), opera (Rossini, Donizetti!), punkrock like jimmy eat world , wandering through mediterranean nature ( the sea with mountains in the background as in provence, montenegro/dalmatia/turkey/ ionian coast, the andes).
I use modern media rarely, don t expect me to be online regularly.

Music, Movies, and Books

movies
woody allen, martin scorsese, francis ford coppola
moreover I like steve mcqueen and paul newmann (especially in exodus)
fairly moving are movies like nothing new on the western front (according to the novel of remarque) or stalingrad

music
in classical music I love first of all rossini, then chopin, mozart, donizetti, bizet.
Even I played all my life classical stuff on piano, I was devoted to punkrock bands like screeching weasel, social distortion, turbonegro. Since ever I hate bombastic stadionrock of every kind and never got aquainted with techno, house and stuff like that!
meanwhile I like smooth and straight pop pearls, made by jimmy eat world, hakan hellstroem, havana guns, bernd begemann (greatest german entertainer), shout out louds
furthermore melancolic stuff as eskobar, teitur, tracy chapman, bjoern kleinhenz.

books
almost everything from my favourite philosophers adorno, nietzsche andschopenhauer. the best book all time is minima moralia of theodor w.adorno. blaise pascal is also a profound one.
in novels I love ivo andric, dostojewski, maupassant, montaigne and proust. poems who speak to my heart are from heine and goethe. shakespeare seems to me also a must.
I hardly know any both amusing or profound contemporary literature, except max goldt and douglas adams (by hitchhike through the galaxy).
