About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To race a solar car from Darwin to Adelaide!
ABOUT ME
Lucy, Mike and Rich!
We're four Cambridge engineers who have helped design and build a solar car to race in the WSC 2009. We're making our way from Sydney to Darwin on a frayed-second-hand-shoestring budget. All incredibly friendly, amicable and tremendous fun, and pay each other out an awful lot. Can be a little geeky sometimes...though we try to keep the engineering chat to a minimum when we're around other people :)
Lucy is a seasoned traveller and explorer, and loves adventuring in new places. Grew up in The Concrete Jungle (HK) which was full of people from all over the world, giving her a very open mind and the ability to get along with almost anyone, anywhere. Although she travels in order to visit interesting places, it is inevitably the people she meets that produce the best memories. With immediate family scattered all over the world, she knows just how small it really is - and wants to experience as much as possible...
Rich: Also a well-travelled chap. Born and raised in Bermuda during his childhood years, he too is a third-culture kid.
Mike: Mike has never been on a commercial plane before, only briefly leaving England a couple of times. He's incredibly excited about his first big adventure into the world, and hopes that he can bring back some great experiences and memories.
Jonathan: Lived in Japan on his gap year, and did an exchange year at MIT in America, very reliable, some would say the brains of the operation...

(We aren't verified, but hopefully these links will convince you that we're real/not coming the raw prawn (?))
PHILOSOPHY
It probably won't kill you (we may have to alter this when we're Down Under...)
Lucy:
"We must not cease from exploration,
and the end of our exploring
will be to arrive where we began
and know the place for the first time"
Mike: "Never say no; try anything twice"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Mike: Flown an aeroplane solo
Lucy: sunrise at 30,000 feet and dragonboat racing down the Yangtze River
Rich: Rowed on Dorney lake.
All: Built a solar car and raced it in Australia!
Teach, Learn, Share
Would love to learn anything about surviving in the outback, since we're going to be spending about a week out there! We're interested in loads of stuff and really, are just keen to find out new things.
Rich is pretty nifty at fixing bikes, Mike has an almost encylopedic knowledge of rock music and Lucy is a bottomless pit of random facts, with concentrations of astronomy, astrophysics and quantum physics. Oh, and very bad jokes.
