About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am an Artist, Craftsman and Teacher who likes to travel and connect with new people to experience their homeplaces more authentically.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the woods of Northern Michigan and love being outside, in the water or working with my hands. I'm a teacher and run a small foundry for casting metal sculpture. I love biking, kitesurfing, skateboarding, reading, restoring/racing vintage cars and most anything else outdoors.

PHILOSOPHY

Squeeze everything possible for each amazing day here on beautiful earth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new here so I have yet to host, but have some stays lined up for Morocco y Spain!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No experience (yet!)with this organization, but I've informally couchsurfed many times all over Australia, Tasmania, New Z and Fiji simply by meeting people in person or kind passers by inviting me in if they happened to notice me sleeping in a car in the middle of winter.

Interests

Anything outside. Meeting likeminded people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love adventure books like "Into the Wild" and "The Alchemist," and anything to do with shipwrecks or explorers.

I listen mostly to independent music, but love folk, jazz, electronic and anything unique.

Any movie by Wes Anderson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had my arm elbow deep in a giant clams mouth in the Great Barrier Reef, kitesurfed the outer break of Maui's north shore, cast my own aluminum surf fins, biked the whole western shore of Lake Michigan on the sand, snowboarded in New Z's southern Alps in all the clothing I owned and I'm a pretty good whistler.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an art teacher for my career and I work almost anything so I have basic knowledge of many materials. I restore old cars, build hollow wooden surfboards and like to fix and repair old things in general.
