About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Heidelberg

ABOUT ME

I have recently moved to Paris to fulfil my bohemian destiny.

Things I want to do in my life: study interesting things, live in a hammock in the Amazon, do something very useful like build a school or save someone's life, have funny babies with strange names who grow up to climb trees and wrestle fish, start a village with tunnels and trapdoors, write something important, be a stowaway on a ship, have a house that used to be something else like lighthouse, train, boat, plane, factory, dockyards.

PHILOSOPHY

Basically just try to be an interesting/interested person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I stay in people's homes and give them positive couch surfing experiences!

Giving people a nice cool place to stay in A-town when I'm back there.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A Malaysian woman invited me to stay with her after mistaking me for the couch surfing Argentinian she was waiting for. That was my intro into CS. Since then I have couch surfed throughout Malaysia, Germany, Mexico, Lesotho, Spain, France and Scotland. I have also had a bunch of couch surfers stay at my place in Adelaide.

Have also done lots of unofficial couch surfing in my time, relying on the kindness of complete strangers who have saved me from nights in ATM booths and park benches.

Interests

I have spent years travelling, which I think might have turned me into a bit of an odd-ball, or just made me very good at initial conversations. I like getting myself into weird situations and collecting stories.

I love to read the great novels of the world, get into fiery arguments, cook veggie meals, drink good (and bad) wine, and watch trash TV.

I am currently very into the American Civil War. I am making my way through Yale online lecture series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitch-hiked around Spain and slept on the streets, got lost trying to climb to Macchu Picchu, started a mojito bar in Laos, worked in Bollywood, started a novelty band, lived at Shakespeare and co, went to Eurovision in Serbia...oh wait that's not cool. (And yes, I realise that I've listed numerous things just to look cooler!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English. I can recommend good books. I love to cook (veggie food)
I can give good advice on how to travel cheap, where to go, what to do.
I want to improve my French and German and Spanish, learn Portugese, Italian, any language really. I want to learn everything I don't yet know about literature, art, philosophy, history, quantum physics, gastronomy, astronomy, theology... let's just say if you know it, I want it. Also keen to learn to surf at some point, in the distant future. Also want to improve my yoga, want to be as flexible as Meg Tilly in The Big Chill.
