About Me

CURRENT MISSION

hit me

ABOUT ME

"A description of yourself. You can include anything at all."

All about me, me me me, such an interesting, open-minded, positive person blah blah blah.

But I will say this - I have no criminal record, would rather drink tea or something stronger in a cafe or at home instead of going clubbing, and I do like books.

PHILOSOPHY

Just do it

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Not much nowadays on CS, since I am not so happy with the direction the management took, but I try to inform friends and acquaintances about the ethos of the CouchSurfing community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed many several couches, but only three "officially" - that is, by sending a message. Several other couches were lucky, chance encounters - for example, while looking for a squat or cheap(read: free) place to stay in Aix-en-Provence, I got to stay at a wonderful student apartment where all the inhabitants were on CS. :) Same situation in Montpellier.
I showed a South African girl around Riga for a day, and stayed with great hosts in France - Nice, Aix-en-Provence, Montpellier and Nimes.

Interests

MIND&BODY
History, travel, writing, social sciences, literature, different cultures.
Also - hiking/walking, camping, the great outdoors.
More recently, social activism and an interest in other forms of society and living - alternative lifestyles, I suppose.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Alan Watts, historical literature, Herman Hesse, travel writing, Claude Salhani , "Heart of Darkness", George Orwell, Mark Twain, psychedelic literature, Thomas L. Friedman, Frank Herbert, Phillip K. Dick, William S. Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson and many, many more. Comics are great.
Velvet Underground, Ella Fitzgerald, good reggae. Django Reinhardt. Cesaria Evora, Alemayehu Eshete and Mahmoud Ahmed from Ethiopia. Beethoven. Dead Kennedies. Buena Vista Social Club. Shpongle for those moments.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What is there to say? Isn't life enough?

I've read a few good books, though.

Teach, Learn, Share

Vinegar is excellent for cutting through grease and oil, and very cheap. Mix it with a bit of soap for a cheap dish cleaner. Stories about Riga. Put the lid on pots and pans, your food will cook faster and your electric/gas bill will be much lower. I'll share my bread and my wine with you, no problem! And my friends. And my country. No problem.

Countries I’ve Visited

Estonia, France, Greece, Lithuania, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Latvia, United States
