I am just a student moving forward in life, and I come from California, though I like to wander the world

"The fool doth think he is wise; but the wise man knows himself to be a fool" - My knowledge of the world is only a thin slice of all there is to know, so what can you teach me to make that thin slice slightly less so?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've met many wonderful people through my travels on couchsurfing, and one of these days I'll host on here... but for now my house is packed!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with a wonderful gentleman named Sebastian in Munich, and we stayed up late and talked about fascinating stuff, including Star Wars, his Master's Thesis (trying to predict the value of websites using machine learning-pretty interesting stuff!), and what makes good food good, among other things. We stayed up til late watching movies and playing Motorstorm. He's pretty much the perfect example of someone who views CS as being about friendship first and foremost

Interests

I like learning other languages, and I enjoy Martial Arts as well as programming. I also like playing (and making) computer games when I have the time

Almost anything - I keep an open mind :)

[And to be clear, I'm not keeping this short just out of lazyness - If you ask me to share music I like with you, you will be pleasantly surprised! As for movies, most movies I only watch once at most, twice or thrice if it makes sense, but the idea of a favorite movie seems weird to me!]

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took my black belt test, twice, once for my black belt and once for my second degree. A whole 3 day weekend of pain and demonstrating 6 years' worth of knowledge, the only reason I (and the others I tested with) didn't give up halfway through was because we knew that we wanted to pass, and were willing to do anything to do so, despite great pain.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know quite a bit about science and mathematics- if you are curious about how the world works, I am always happy to talk about that- both so I can learn and teach!

I am good at phonology - that is the pronunciation of languages, even those which I don't know. If you want to learn a language, I can help you get off the ground and have good (not perfect, but certainty much better than most language learner's) pronunciation from the start (Or from the middle, if you already have started learning a language)

I have been programming since I was 11 years old, and even if it's just a hobby, I can do some really cool things with it. Computers are one of my favorite subjects
