About Me

I started using Couchsurfing last year (2014) and I've met some remarkable people thanks to it!

I think I am a curious person with many interests. I don't know if I should say open minded, cause it seems that's the most used word on Couchsurfing profiles! I am generally sociable but I might need a bit of time to trust unknown people..sometimes my friends tell me I tend to give out the wrong impression.

I'm honest and respectful towards other people. I think Couchsurfing is really about that, so I'd expect my guests (and, if I'm the one travelling, my hosts) to treat me the same way.

I have lived in Venice for almost 5 years now: first when studying at university and now, when I came back for working. I think I know the city fairly well so I can help you out with some recommendations. Please note I highly despise very touristy things, and value other, more genuine, ways of experiencing the city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

GENERAL INFO (please take a moment to read)

I believe Couchsurfing really gives us extra chances for enriching experiences.
It's good we can meet different people, learn from each other, be inspired.

I am sometime able to host.
I generally prefer hosting just one person, to be accommodated on an extra bed in the living room. Very occasionally I can agree to hosting a maximum of 2 persons.

Just a note: IF YOU ARE JUST LOOKING FOR FREE ACCOMMODATION I am sorry, I'm not the right person. My location is not extremely convenient (I live on one of the islands around Venice, it takes some time and you need to pay for the public transport, which can be expensive). Much better for you to look for somewhere in the nearest mainland (Mestre).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the last few years I met 2 amazing girls who were enthusiastic about CS (one is a crazy korean gyeopo, living in the US, the other a super nice german i met in korea), so they convinced me to give it a try!

I met a couple of people while they were visiting Venice and had good chats with them (plus some food and drinks!).

I hosted twice (and my guests were really wonderful people!) but haven't surfed yet.

Interests

Stories - any kind, better if they come from direct experience!
Sport - I love a good play at basically any sport and tend to get competitive..sorry! :P
Food - I love experimenting with food and I love trying food from all around the world, though I am mostly familiar with asian cuisine for the moment.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS

Books that left a mark:
Italo Calvino - Città Invisibili
Sergio Bettinelli - In vespa
Tiziano Terzani - Un indovino mi disse
Cesare Pavese - Feria d'agosto
Joseph Conrad - Heart of Darkness
..but I also like crime stories (just finished Jo Nesbø's The Leopard), nordic classic authors like Arto Paasilina, fantasy series (Martin's A song of ice and fire), etc... (can't think of anything else now)!

MOVIES

If there's one movie set in Venice that I'd recommend you, it's "Dieci Inverni" (Ten winters). Please, don't waste time watching lousy ones like "The tourist"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped from (maybe) 10m-high rocks into the sea in Greece
Falled from other (a bit less high) rocks in Corsica
Drove from the North to the southern end of Italy (Puglia) with my friends
Swam with turtles in the open sea in Greece (Zakynthos)
Did a road trip around all South Korea and slept in a traditional Hanok in January (rather freezing)
High-fived Jackie Chan (YEAH!)
Swam in Venice's lagoon (YUK!) ... but I still didn't get any serious illness after that :P

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to think I am fairly good with cooking. Even though I'm Italian, I master a good wienerschnitzel XD

I have a guitar and can play a bit. You're free to play when you visit....unless you're really really bad! :-P

What I Can Share with Hosts

I work during the week, but I can join you around after work for drinks or dinner or a stroll around the city.

I can give you all information you may need when visiting Venice.
I've lived in another couple cities, so I can help you if you plan to visit those too!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Italy, Portugal, South Korea, United Kingdom
