About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Take over the world! Yawn... but tomorrow.

Hi.
My name’s Nick and I am a Fire/Acrobatics Artist by passion and profession. I am also a husband and a father. And a superhero when asleep.

I'm a quite self-confident chatterbox. However, I think I'm a good listener, too - having kids actually teaches you how to listen very closely.

Always keen on laying about. Doing nothing. Well... Not exactly nothing. I like to do everything, but my grandma always said that I was lazy and I wouldn't achieve anything cause I should find work, keep my room tidy and wash my ears eagerly. And sell my motorbike. I managed, though, to keep my sanity as well as my motorcycle. And realise I just like to do my own stuff and not to be told what I should and should not like.

I like to explore everything that interests me in my own pace. Sometimes it’s slow and meticulous and sometimes fast and wild - it all depends on my state of mind.

Easily enthusiastic. I like changes, so my dream is to travel all the time and spend decades with bags in my hand seeing places, meeting people, jumping, running, riding, laughing, laughing, laughing, filling people with joy… But then, my dream is also a little house in the middle of a huge garden close to friends and with neighbours popping by every day so Niki, my wife, can bake delicious cakes constantly and I could get incredibly fat and happy.

I do care for my family - my lovely wife, our son and our dog. It is my whole world and almost my every thought revolves around them.

The better mood I am in the more sarcastic I can be. In other words, please be prepared that I may sound offensive. I don't mean it... Okay, I mean it. I'm mean sometimes. But it's more of liking you than the other way round. But I also can tone down and be simply nice and polite. Life taught me to be more flexible and humble, but still I love puns, wordplay and inappropriate jokes.

Please, be aware of that, we will save a lot of awkwardness. If you are sensitive to sarcasm then I have a feeling we might not get along...

Anything more? Maybe I will write more later on. :) If actually anyone bothers to read this crap... :P

PHILOSOPHY

Everything starts with dreams. So dream and make your dreams come true.

You have three choices in life: be good, get good or give up. - House MD

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There are many reasons why I chose CS platform and I guess most of them are exactly the same as other travellers':
To meet new friends around the world
To discover places not like a stupid tourist but as a person who was brought up in there. Far more entertaining.
To see things normal tourist would never see. Because there is not a single word about so many things in tourist guides it would make your head spin.
To discover the world in our own pace. We hate to hurry.
And, of course, to save up cash on hotels so it's possible to spend them on other crazy things - rock climbing with our hosts, for example.

Don't forget, CS is about both cultural exchange AND budget travelling.

I also realised after years of boycotting CS that the Internet has changed drastically as well as business models and I am curious to explore paid membership. See where it takes us.

Interests

I love Fire. This includes:
- Fire performances
- Poi, staff, dragon staff and so on...
- Burning down houses, dolls, teddy bears and 18-wheel lorries. Checking what burns and whatnot.

I love street arts and busking. It's wonderful to be on the street and look at the performers or to perform. This involves:
- diabolo and two diabolos
- juggling
- clubs juggling and swinging
- contact juggling
- street theatre

Long live busking!

Lately I really got into circus arts and performance not only on the street. As so, I started to find new passions:
- Aerial Acrobatics
- Cyr wheel
- gymnastic training
- acrobatics and acro balance
- Street Workout

Dancing. It's hard to dance in a club on Friday night (Crowds! Alcohol! Smell!!!), but when I can, I dance. Especially when I cook. Then the kitchen changes into dance-floor and cutlery and pots are my partners! Or on the street. Or in a shop. Dance like nobody’s watching.

I like crafting things. Glass jewelery, cards, origami, stained glass, and always keen to learn more!

Drawing is a recent passion. Taking my pad and pencils almost everywhere.

Travelling. Duh. During travels I meet lots of people who are more or less loony. What's more, it is pure pleasure to spend time with them, but I won't argue that from time to time I like to close myself in an empty room with a good book in my hand. Recently, the latter is more tempting due to feeling burned out by street performances and parenting.

I love cooking. Cooking is wonderful and I can spend whole day in the kitchen preparing meals. My favorite cuisine is Italian one, but I don't hesitate to try new ones and mix them together. I have to have a day for it, though, because when you grow up you have to think what to get for dinner. Every. Single. Day. Of. Your. Life. Nobody told me that. :(

Passionate about motorcycles. I have one in my garage and she is a beauty. :) Waited six long years to get it but true Love and passion never goes away. The feeling of wind blowing and the trees fading away behind you are unforgettable.

Rock climbing. Yes.

Slacklining. Another way to make my inner child happy. ;) Walking on slack line is like meditation, requires focus and devotion.

And I think I'm getting into sailing...

I absolutely love board games, computer games, console games and bridge. Yeah, the card game. :-)

In the category "others" I'd put: books, tennis, swimming, windsurfing, surfing,

  • dogs
  • dancing
  • running
  • motorcycles
  • reading
  • drawing
  • poi
  • acrobatics
  • fire spinning
