About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Traveling from Germany to Morocco via land.
ABOUT ME
I'm Milena and I come from Germany. I just finished my bachelor's degree and I enjoy the freedom to travel again.
I´m interested in traveling trough spending a lot of time with locals. Therefor I hitchhike (for now I did 15 000 km!) do Couchsurfing. I just think it´s a great way to have a personal experience and not the typical touristy ones. ;)
PHILOSOPHY
Once in New Zealand I was sitting in the bus. Instruction from the Driver:
" If you are sitting next to someone you don't know, shake hands, introduce yourself, you might make friends. You never know. "
- True! So true... :)
I hitchhiked in Germany and this old and easy-going man gave me a lift. He was incredibly welcoming and offert me food, drinks and a map. When we arrived I asked him what I could give in return and he just said:
"To always do the same to others. It´s just a simple question about giving and taking. That´s the only thing I want you to do for me."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surfed quite a lot during my travels. In return, my parents host in my hometown. In my old apartment in Mainz I was hosting too.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
First when I heard about Couchsurfing I was shocked by the idea of inviting a completely stranger into your home! Haha, but now that I really know what it is about, I just think it´s genius! :D
During my travels Couchsurfing gave me everything I needed: A meal, hot tea & a cold beer, a shower, a hug and a good conversation, a washing machine, a lift and not at least a place to sleep. - Thanks to all these great people that hosted me during the last years!!! It was an amazing time! (:
Hospitality feels good! It´s so much better to sleep at somebodys place, than to sleep in a hotel or hostel.
It´s the best way to get to know other countrys and cultures.
Hosting is traveling without traveling.
